I could not agree more! :righton:

I have found that talented people tend to have a big ego, which actually helps them to do great things, but after they have had success, their ego may now actually get in their own way of continuing to produce great things. I think Quincy Jones would have helped.

Very informative as always, thanks. I'm an equal opportunity format purchaser. Most of my lp's have been bought from thrifts over the last decade. If it's cheap and in nice shape for titles I enjoy I'll grab it
I do have many format doubles as well. That Hydra I've a nice US 1988 DADC as well. :)

I've purchased a Dutch/Europe 1st press with the following deadwax. Hopefully an early pressing with the great sounding Bernie Grundman mastering!

    • Matrix / Runout (Runout Side A (Variant 9)): NL 01-85930-4A-1 H PAL 38112-HOL
    • Matrix / Runout (Runout Side B (Variant 9)): NL 01-85930-6B-1 D

Please note that BOTH sides should have the etching:
    Side A PAL 38112 - HOL etched
    Side B PBL 38112 - HOL etched

So have we decided on which copy sounds the best? Or at least without all the sibilance I have heard on multiple copies?

Both sides have the same style machine stamped matrix so i think it'll be the same Grundman mastering. I've not checked if both sides have the "HOL" yet.

See upthread, the Holland CBS Haarlem pressing has no sibilance whatsoever.

If you hear sibilence on multiple copies, have you considered the issue may not be the multiple copies?

Yes I got a copy for a friend and it has zero sibilance, plus I don't hear it on any of my other albums.

Anyone ever heard the Promo Copy of this? How does it sound?

Not hearing it on any other albums still doesn’t mean the issue is the multiple copies.

I have no idea what you mean by “Yes, I got a copy for friend”. You got a copy for a friend and...what? You played it on your rig and it plays fine? It plays fine on his rig?

Yes to be clear I bought a copy for a friend that sounds absolutely stunning on my rig and his, I have two other copies that both have so much sibilance that I can't listen to them.
