As 'Say You Love Me' plays here, I wonder how this band has aged with fellow music connoisseurs and music lovers.
    • more than 100 million albums sold.
    • 18 major tours
    • 17 studio albums
    • One #1 song in the United States
    • One #1 song in the UK

Lots of threads here, many of us continue to be big fans. All three eras hold up, including some of the post-Rumours albums. Anyone else like Tango In The Night as much as I do?

Kinda surprised they only had one number one in US and UK! Excellent band, wonderful songwriting and really good singing. They pretty much had it all. I always preferred the sultry voice of Christine McVie over Stevie Nicks.

I always preferred the girl next door looks of Christine McVie over the obvious sexiness of Stevie Nicks.Anyway...was never a big fan as back in the 70s I preferred a harder sound. The Dance sparked an interest in them as I mellowed with age. They get a spin around here about once a year.

Huge hit among record buying youngsters here. Rumours and Tango in the Night sell like hot cakes. A lot of younger, hip artists have cited them as an inspiration, and of course a lot of the young people know them via their parents. I have been told that just ten, fifteen years ago, this was far from the case.

I suppose the more lightweight, relationship-laden themes of their late 70's/80's output sit well with a lot of people. Comfortable to listen to, well played, well written music.

I sure enjoy the Welch/Kirwan era!

  11. A band that presents a fork in the road, both done very well, both that cost the band, one the mythic hoodoo of the blues, the other mythic California.

  12. The 1969-1974 period I'll always love

Tusk is such a cool, idiosyncratic album that should always make it ripe for rediscovery. Rumours is, well, Rumours. Consistently popular. And, yes, the timeless sex appeal of prime Stevie Nicks.

I think their critical and cultural standing, as well as their influence on newer musicians, is as high now as it's ever been.

I have loved and enjoyed all iterations of the band from the Peter Green era to today.

Same. Sure wish we could get expanded editions from those first two generations of the band.

Yeah, that was really sad. Especially when I read that he didn't want his wife to be taking care of "an invalid".
But this is about music, and he made some really solid music.

I'd say they've stuck around, I know a fair number of people my age who have Rumors at least, they still pop up in media, they have the critical and commercial success, the early Peter Green era has that cool factor like it always did, and even Buckingham/Nicks has that cool factor.

You do realize the Blue Horizon box set, the Vaudeville and Show Biz Blues sets, plus the expanded Then Play On cover the Green era very well...right? :)

My girls are 23 and they love Fleetwood Mac. They heard me playing it, but they do not automatically like whatever I do. Fleetwood Mac is one of about 5 artists that they really took to.

The others being, Elvis, Journey, Boston, Motley Crue, and The Cars. There are others, but those five (along with FM) are the big ones.

I have many of their albums. For some reason, I don't listen to them as much as I did in the past.
