Daltrey is so high on acid that he stutters 'mmmmmmmy' for 10 minutes until Townshend clocks him with his guitar....then a fight breaks out and they restart the song as a slow paced blues for 20 minutes
I'm hoping somewhere in that 33 minutes, Roger leaves the stage and they burst into a rip roaring improv rendition of "In The City" with John and Keith sharing vocal duties just like the record.
I have no idea, sorry. That '67 date was a short show opening for Herman's Hermits, so it probably wasn't a particularly long version, if it was played at all. It could have been just ad-libbing lyrics over a droney My Gen-jam too, for all we know. The studio- and later live arrangement at least seems to have used Pete's demo as a blueprint, and more or less ignored The Pudding's version (thankfully, I might add).
...or the My Generation medley is all the songs from The Who Sell Out that they rarely or never performed live before or since: “Armenia City in the Sky,” “Odorono,” “Mary Anne with the Shaky Hands,” “Our Love Was,” “I Can’t Reach You,” “Sunrise”....
Yes it will be extraordinary. The musical journey when My Generation meets Sunrise is still unsurpassed to this day.
Someone asked for some samples of the tracks: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fillmore-A...d=1519323709&sr=8-3&keywords=the+who+fillmore
I don't know if it helps but I can't hear it on the audience recording, although I don't know if it's been dated a the 5th or 6th yet...
Don't think anyone's answered this yet. "A Quick One" on the boot is from the 5th, so that comment most likely won't be included here (unless they edit in banter from that night, something they have done on previous releases but probably won't do here). To reiterate: side one of the boot (up through Relax) is from the 6th, side two (AQO on) is from the 5th.
I got "Live at the Fillmore" as a bootleg LP at a swap meet in 1972... and I still have it! I disliked it at the time because of its thin, harsh sound quality. More recent digital versions had improved the sound quality to the point where I could better appreciate the performance. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming release.
That would be AMAZING! I'd love to hear a live Armenia or Can't Reach You. I could actually imagine an Armenia worked into My Generation, but I think the 33 minutes will include a lot of feedback and such.
I really typically dislike long jams. But a long Who jam from 1968? I can't wait to hear this!!!!!! Although I do find "Magic Bus" live to be particularly boring (personally) so hopefully 20 minutes aren't spent on that.
Based on the nearly ten-minute fragment of “My Generation” that we currently have, it sounds like it’s gonna be another 23-minute Jazz Odyssey sonic exploration like in the movie Spinal Tap.
