  2. The Smiths - 'This Charming Man' from their singles albums (2 volumes in the UK). Great but I wasn't hooked on the format until a friend played me a CD of Yello.

  3. I think it was "Where The Streets Have No Name" by U2. My uncle was the first person I knew who had a CD player and I believe The Joshua Tree was his first CD. It was somewhere in the spring of 1987.

After I purchased my first CD player with high school graduation money in June '86, I popped in Little Richard's Greatest Hits (among my first four cd purchases). First track on the disc: Tutti Frutti.

    Been all downhill since ;-)

The first I can remember is from Tom Petty's "Full Moon Fever" where he does a shout out to CD listeners.

Can't remember which CD I put in the player first but Born to Run and Bat Out of Hell were my first two CDs.

The first CD’s I bought were Mr Big’s debut and Journey’s ‘Escape’ in 1989.

I don’t quite remember the year, but before 1990. I walked into my older cousins room and he was listening to U2 - With or Without You off the Joshua Tree CD. It sounded much better than the dubbed tape I had at the time.

I was a pre-teen and it was at least a few Christmas’s before I had a CD player as well, courtesy of that same cousin, he bought a new set up and gifted me his cd boom box. I used that player everyday day for years until the laser finally gave out.

That was also one of the earliest CD's I had, and my introduction to ABBA. :) Better late than never?

First song I heard on my first CD player was in 1986, "Boys of Summer" off the "Building the Perfect Beast" disk by Don a Henley. I remember at first thinking I didn't hook it up right when the time counter started on the CD and I heard no noise ...nothing! Then the guitar and cymbals at the start of the song started and I was blown away by the clarity! Good times.

I already answered, but a few years before I bought a CD player CFNY used to announce that they had played certain tracks off their CD player, but I don't know which ones.

My parents got a CD player in '88, and I'm quite sure that my father bought 3 CD's that weekend, including U2's Rattle and Hum which must have been the first he played due to it being the only one that would appeal to parents and children alike. "Helter Skelter" then.
