Very cool. I love the doors...they add something 'mysterious' to the way it looks. My husband's IKEA shelving units are also discontinued now, they are called Expedit. IKEA sells 'flimsier' units now. Not impressed. My husband has two 5 x 5 units in the living room with a 1 X 5 laid on top on each. There are a couple 5 x 5 white Expedit with more LPs in one of the bedrooms. We moved recently to our new apartment and I just refused to have our living room look like a music store. (like in our prior apartment). There's only one revolving unit with around 1200 CDs plus my collection along the large window/ balcony. The other few thousands CDs are in our storage room along with all the DVDs + Blu Rays.
Yeah I had these custom built in my downstairs office two years ago. You can see that they sit ontop of where the sheetrock covers the foundation. Standing shelves would waste the space as it petrudes about 9 inches into the room.
Japan box sets released from one shop to support the sony sicp catalogue. I have the full commercial set. I managed to find two empty boxes and am looking for 3 to complete the sample edition box sets.
It is fascinating to see how you store your CDs and LPs. I wish I had the space to do the same....... This Billy Bookshelf allows me to put two layers (front and back) of CDs, from the floor to the ceiling, so I can save little bit of space problem. I store CDs of Post Classical/Ambient/Electronic and Classical Chamber music on another shelf
I enjoy this book very much Dust and Grooves: Adventures in Record Collecting. It is currently available at a great price:
I put a few noses out of joint when I started one at talkclassical called: "Good Porn Has Closeups - Music Rack & Bookshelf Closeups"
This is a nice book you will get hours of enjoyment flipping through. That's also a good price for it because it is a large, heavy book. Wish I could get as organized as some of the people covered in the book. Use the "look inside" feature Amazon provides to get an idea of content.
Stones, the 3 little angled stacks are the SACDs. From my Facebook page, don't know how to get the pictures to show without the link below/ Log In or Sign Up to View
Some great collectors and photos. A lot of the photos are available on Paz's website. In fact the website started off first as a personal project and then he got the idea to publish the book. I really enjoyed the detailed interviews on the website; the book omits most of them but the interviews are essential to understanding and appreciating the photos better I think.
