Would be very cool. I would guess though that it is very unlikely that they would use The Monkees name.

Maybe the setlist won’t change that much, but the arrangements will?

..not yet, this band has more intrigue than a Sherlock Holmes movie.

I'm hoping that they only focus on the Micky and Mike sung Monkees songs and skip over any Davy or Peter sung songs. I don't need to hear Daydream Believer anymore. I would certainly love to hear them do both Me & Magdalena and Birth Of An Accidental Hipster.

Thing is... Micky doesn't even have to sing it now if that's the case. I'd love to hear them both sing it together but if these guys continue to put their trust in Sandoval for decisions and deep tracks to add to the set... then this is a major contender.

I would also like to think that a good portion of the audience (by this point) aren't just looking for the hits. Yes, there are some. But when you consider how narrowed down 1960's music has become on the radio, they probably only know 3 to 4 songs that regularly can still be heard often. I think a lot of the fans who are willing to pay these amounts for tickets are those who know a good chunk of the whole catalog by now.

I would guess the majority of the Audience will be hoping for a Monkees experience and will not care about Deep Cuts or seldom heard songs etc, just the hits and a good nostalgic night out !!

The Monkees Tour Facebook page has a post asking for suggestions of songs for them to do on the upcoming tour. They are asking for each person who voted to do so only once, and to list three songs you'd like them to do, in order from favorite to least favorite. Nez and Micky will be reading the suggestions and after the poll closes, they will be tallied up in order by number of votes.

They also said something like, "We know they'll be doing the hits, what else would you like them to do?" I remember when they did this a few tours ago, I was seeing a lot of requests for "I'm A Believer.":tsk:

I'm seeing a lot of mentions for "Auntie's Municipal Court."

I don't know. I just don't think the majority of the audience are the crazy ladies who went ga-ga for Davy anymore. I think the past 10 years of tours the Monkees have shown a great deal of deeper cuts. Every year it seems more younger people are coming out. The young people stream and are more prone to know more than the 3-4 songs you hear on terrestrial radio. Just my two cents. I may be wrong. I'm just glad they're not a casino band anymore.

And by younger, I mean people under 50. That should make a lot of people on this forum feel good!!!

I’ve seen the Monkees so many times in the last few years. Saw the Pantages show and just saw Mike at the Troubadour. I’ve been telling myself that I’d skip this show. Why? They are my two favorite Monkees and they’ll be performing Monkees songs. I know if I don’t go I’ll regret it, but I’m still not 100% convinced that I need to go. I’m so freaking torn.

I'm not on Facebook. If anyone here is voting and can only think of 2 songs, please vote "Writing Wrongs" in my behalf. Thank you.

Go. We're in the second golden era and it's gonna end soon - and there won't be a third.

What this weird entity of a band is doing is kind of unprecedented. And at least we're being spared the unparalleled awkwardness of a Tork-Nesmith tour.

Because it was limited to only three, I voted for: Auntie's Municipal Court, Zor and Zam (With The Evil Wizard Glick spreading confetti around the stage), St. Matthew

I have done my own very unscientific study of the Facebook poll, and I had to stop, there were so many responses. But so far, it looks like "Love Is Only Sleeping" is in the lead, followed closely by "Auntie's Municipal Court" and "The Door Into Summer.":goodie:

    Also making good showings:
    "Salesman"
    "St. Matthew"
    "Good Clean Fun"
    "While I Cry"
    "Nine Times Blue"
    "Mommy And Daddy"
    "Tapioca Tundra"
    "Shorty Blackwell"
"You Just May Be The One"
    "Sweet Young Thing"
    "Daily Nightly"
    "Circle Sky"

    Some interesting choices:
    "Cruisin'"
    "Magnolia Simms"
    "P.O. Box 9847"
    "Tomorrow's Gonna Be Another Day"
    "Don't Bring Me Down"
    "Hollywood"
    "Midnight"
    "Little Girl"
    "Naked Persimmon"
    "Acapulco Sun"
"The Girl I Left Behind Me"
    "Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere"
    "Valleri"
    "Twilight On The Trail"
    "Of You"
    "How Insensitive"
    "Propinquity"
    "Rising In Love"

    "A" for the day:
"Mary, Mary" (Run-DMC version with Micky doing at least one rap verse)

I'm not on Facebook, but if someone could vote Midnight Train and rap version of Mary Mary I'd appreciate it.

I agree-- I think the percentage of people familiar with the catalog is probably more than the "expect all the songs I know" crowd.

DDT (The Monkees) Micky & Coco and Peter did Midnight Train acoustic - during 2015' tour .. a real highlight for me, but it was a condensed version .. but still good.

That would be cool if true. But you may be on to something. We certainly seem to be the target audience for the live shows of recent years, as well as archive releases.

We've been extremely fortunate that we've gotten a decent array of songs that aren't as well known. Looking back at the past tours from the past decade, it's becoming more and more deep into the catalog. With just Micky and Mike, I feel that this is the tour where we really get some gems dug up. If you cut out all the Davy tunes and the few Peter tunes, there's plenty of room for songs like "St Matthew," "Auntie's Municipal Court," "Love Is Only Sleeping" to show up. I also wouldn't mind "She'll Be There" if Coco is on board.

I am not here to be a troll, just curious. Why is Auntie's Municipal Court such a highly desired song to be played? I mean it's an OK 3 chord song but to my ears nothing special.

Sorry just curious. I'm not a die hard Monkees fan but do have all the original albums.
