  3. Really? Not wood or tile? Or even carpet? Vinyl is the worst floor.

    None yet.
I do have several ceedees that I don’t feel compelled to obtain on vinyl (or have liquidated the vinyl), as they sound good enough to me on my system (e.g., some 90s neil young, rem).
Interested in reading some other recommendations, myself, as I’m not familiar with those mentioned thus far.

  7. I agree. I kept Brick only for the high Rez re masters. The CD sides are garbage sounding. I’ve got my Targets and early mastering for those.

IMO, the first mastering of Black Sabbath-Black Sabbath on the WB US CD sounds fabulous...the highs are perfect.

Only once: The Beatles 2009 cd's sound better than the Capitol vinyl. However, the 2012 vinyl sound better than the 2009 cd's

my vinyl rips on cassette then to CDR...CDR sounds the best...don't ask me to explain this it must be just my preference for digital...I treasure those CDRs...I finally transfered them to my HD...many mixes that were only available on vinyl.

The answer to this question really depends on the quality of each poster's turntable set-up. Honest owners of nasty, cheap, improperly set-up turntables would state that they always prefer cds.

Usually prefer LP versions, but, the DCC Deep Purple - Made In Japan CD sounds MUCH better than my old WB LPs, imho.

Well, if you don’t think it would sound bad, why not get it? Contrarywise, SACD is always less compromised than vinyl, why consider the vinyl at all?

    Really?

Played a vinyl rip of the quad Paranoid through the studio monitors, then the first album WB CD right after, and we all thought those highs took away from the drum sound.

Clarity for Sabbath isn't always correct, it turns out.

I'm talking Black Sabbath/Black Sabbath on CD, the first Warner Bros US pressing.

    What are you talking about?

    Yes! Yes!

Honestly though, only when the inner groove distortion ruins the last song on a side.
Cherry Bomb...that one needs the cd, unfortunately.

By "Vinyl Rip of Quad 'Paranoid'", I do mean that the LP was ripped to 24 bit files, which were burned to a CD-R, then played on the same CD player>stereo soundbard>studio monitors as the first WB Black Sabbath CD.

I'll take a bit of surface noise here and there over compression and brickwalling that lasts the whole CD.

The only exceptions are a few select records that were not only really long but were cut loud, so the sound quality suffered a bit, 2 examples are the 55 minute Duke by Genesis and the 58 minute New Jersey by Bon Jovi.

Even then it's not every 55-hour long album on 1 vinyl record, some engineers worked some real miracles like the 62 minute Back for the Attack by Dokken that sounded good.

Yep, I prefer my Rolling Stones Tattoo You C.D. from Virgin, over my U.K. first and RL pressing lp pressings.
