Wow, this post shocks me. I would say this is one of the best ever album sleeves by anybody.
The picture was actually taken for the front cover of Vogue but Bowie decided to use it himself for PinUps.

Al commented in a book that the album looked like it was aimed at either polka fans or punk rockers.

Haha--I thought the same thing as the other poster. I thought, "I didn't know that Green Day were that into ping-pong!"

This is a great cover! And his face replaced the Queen's on some bank notes in Britain when the pound went missing.

I just never understood why Prince looked like a lighter version of Boney M's Bobby Farrell during this time period. XD

I love this cover! Very attractive green, yellow and white color combination and the photos taken from the San Diego Petting Zoo.

Have you seen Duke Fame's new album?

It's far worse than "Smell The Glove"!

Glenn Frey - "No Fun Aloud"

Cover makes the album look like an absolutely miserable experience.

Once they lost both Sears AND K-Mart, the writing was on the wall.

I presume the cover of the John and Yoko album Two Virgins didn't help sales

I have read many of these threads over the years, and for me the winner will always be The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds.
I really cannot understand how whoever was in charge of these things decided to give the go ahead with that cover.
It is a shockingly bad sleeve, especially given that they were a successful band at the time and this is their best ever album.
Just imagine if the Sgt Pepper album had been released in such a crappy sleeve...
