    Everclear ... "AM Radio"

    I remember 1977
I started going to concerts and I saw the Led Zeppelin
I got a guitar on Christmas day
I dreamed that Jimmy Page would come to
Santa Monica to teach me to play

Also includes a clip of Motown song "Mr. Big Star" fades into lyrics at the start.

The Stranglers with the song 'No More Heroes':

    "Whatever happened to
    Leon Trotsky?
    He got an ice pick
    That made his ears burn
    Whatever happened to
    Dear old Lenin?
    The great Elmyra
    And Sancho Panza?
    Whatever happened to the heroes?"

Lenin makes sense in the context of the prior line "the workers have struck for fame" (i.e. Worker's Revolution) and Disney jab. But Lennon was also into Karl Marx and claimed to identify with the working class. I think it's a tough call.

  15. The bridge to "R.O.C.K. in the USA" by John Cougar Mellencamp is a roll call of various oldies rock/soul performers:

"There was Frankie Lyman, Bobby Fuller, Mitch Ryder
    (They were Rockin')
    Jackie Wilson, Shangri-las, Young Rascals
    (They were Rockin')
    Spotlight on Martha Reeves
    And don't forget James Brown
    Rockin' in the U.S.A.

    Hey!"

And the Jay Z song was on

OK, apologies, they're not singers and it's not a song, and it's hella obscure, but I give you 'Lying on Her Bed Listening to Steve Reich' by Tim Willis and the End.

Track is 8 minutes, best I can find is this YouTube clip…
