This is the PHK, a record cleaning machine that some guy named Paulo sells in Brazil. A brush and a vacuum. I've never used it. It's interesting. Check it out:

I think there are lots of variants like this. Ive seen a Swedish one too for 100$. Seems to be a good option if you have a vacuum cleaner that can suck water at home. Otherwise buying one of those might put you in normal RCM territories anyway.

This one is interesting because you can use a regular vacuum, the water stays in the machine.

Like the engineering aspect but it’s painfully slow revolutions per minute would drive me nuts!

How does the h20 stay in the system?

I'm using one bought from a Canadian guy on eBay a couple of years ago. It's a manual turntable with a puck to hold/turn the platter, and an adapter for hooking up a wet/dry vacuum. Total cost was about $130, IIRC. I use a 1 hp vac that cost maybe $40-$50. The total cost - under $200. Works lie a charm. I'm not sure if the Record Doctor machine has a 1 hp motor, plus it's a lot bulkier/fussier, with more parts to brake. My setup is totally manual, with nothing to break. The only thing that can break is the vacuum, and it's easily and cheaply replaceable.

Here's something similar in US now:

I've got the PHK. Been using it for about 2.5 years. Nothing fancy but it works well.
Big selling point for me is that I don't have to manually rotate the disc, and it is reversible. As for supplying a vacuum, I already had a Fein vacuum that I used in my business, but wasn't in use much since I retired. That was gravy.

Surely it would be possible to take an old vacuum cleaner tube attachment, cut a slot in it, glue some felt either side of the slot and use that to vacuum whattever cleaner you use on a record?

It needs to be a water sucking vacuum though.

I'm not sure if I would use a regular ol' vacuum cleaner to suck up any liquid, a real potential for electrocution or damage to the machine. It's better to use a Shop Vac type cleaner designed for sucking up liquid in mind.

I'd assume everyone understood that the vacuum needs to be of the wet/dry type. But here's a disclaimer: Please, folks, do not use your regular vacuum cleaner for this, especially if you live in countries with 220 V - you've got a smaller chance of survival. ONLY use the wet/dry type.

Really? Must have confused it. The guy who bought it was Swedish I think as well as there being a Swedish flag and prive in KR for me on the site.

I bought a PHK. Works very well. I tried a very noisy Bitches Brew old British LP that was pretty bad and now there are much less clicks and pops after first cleaning.

Sometimes 2 or more cleans help even more. But of course it wont help with scratches.
