Two of my favourites.. Kate Bush: Delius (composer Frederick Delius 1862-1934) Bauhaus: Antonin Artaud (writer and actor 1896-1948)

Barenaked Ladies - "Brian Wilson" Indigo Girls - "Galilleo" Chicago - "A Song For Richard and His Friends" Chicago - "A Hit By Varese" Maroon 5/Xtina - "Moves Like Jagger" Dion DiMucci - "Abraham Martin & John" Zappa - "Orrin Hatch On Skis" Roger Radcliffe - "Cruella de Vil"
While we're at it, sweet little Lily Allen did a nice, pleasent little song about POTUS #43...to keep this dirty-words-free, I won't mention titles (but I will say CeeLo Greene got a hit with a different song by the very same name!).
Paul Simon had one called, "Mrs. Roosevelt", but somebody paid him an awful lot of money to change it to "Mrs. Robinson". Doesn't really matter, anyhow......I think it's a song about Joe DiMaggio either way...
The Guess Who had a song about Gordon Lightfoot...I can't for the life of me remember what the title was... The Beatles - "Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite" - considering John got it all from a real circus poster, one can only assume Mr. Kite was, too. Queen - "God Save The Queen"...I think it was a cover of the Sex Pistols song. The Beatles - "Her Majesty" is presumably a song about the same person mentioned in the Sex Pistols song. We may be pulling the gentlemen's leg, there..."whoo-hoo...!" (cue the "parade wave")
I've never heard this before - Kirsty MacColl, There's a Guy Works Down the Chip Shop Swears He's Elvis:
[QUOTE="Dillydipper, post: 18357507, member: 6720 Roger Radcliffe - "Cruella de Vil" [/QUOTE] She was a real person??? Wow. Documented proof required please. My granddaughters will be terrified.
Here are a few by Siouxsie and the Banshees: “Christine” - About schizophrenic Christine Costner Sizemore “Kiss Them for Me” - About Jane Mansfield’s death “Cities in Dust” - About the volcanic eruption in Pompeii (includes graphic descriptions of people dying, so I think it counts)
