Great album, perfect flow. To pick 5 is pretty easy on the one hand. yet, it seems to devalue the whole of the record. This album would not be the same without the other 5. BTW, I've never considered Country Dreamer part of this record. Solid track, tho.

Country Dreamer was the B-Side of the Helen Wheels single, which came out about a month before this album was released.

A terrific album from start to finish from McCartney (Wings)
Some of the best music and arrangements he has ever done in his solo career.
Still play it 3-4 times a year.

In no particular order I like these.

    Band On the Run
    Bluebird
    Mrs. Vandebilt

    1985

Closest anyone has gotten to my picks. I just didn't cheat and dropped Let Me Roll It from your list to have 5, but it would have been my 6th choice.

Mamunia is my one of the most under-appreciated songs in Paul's vast catalog. I think it is absolutely stunning and never understood why no one else seems to agree with me!

Those 3 are all great. The rest are just average.

I only like the song Band On the Run slightly more than all the other big McCartney album singles that I've hated from first listen. Overall that puts it pretty far up the list, but not nearly enough to vote for it.

Jet is a great song, overplayed but still remains a favorite. Vanderbilt has a wonderful bass line. Lots of catchy tracks here. Really the only two tracks I dislike on the album are Helen and the title track, and both for the same reason--too simplistically monotonous.

You're right, I probably should have played up what I did vote for. Those songs I do all like really well.

It's just strange to me how many of the main album songs that Paul (and sometimes John) released as the big singles that so many people like for whatever reason, have repelled me from the first times I heard them.

I can remember I had the Band on The Run single - 1975 or so. I was 13. I used to come home from school and (after any homework) play my entire stack of 45s on a crappy 1 piece, portable stereo. I don't remember all of the 45s, but they included Beach Baby, One & Celebrate (Three Dog Night), You Don't Mess Around With Jim, Uncle Albert, Help!, and a few others I can't remember right now. I'd typically play both sides. Band on the Run and 1985 were both magical and a couple of my favorites (still are); I can sometimes be transported back to that time when I close my eyes and listen.

I limited my choices to Let Me Roll It and Mrs V

I'm not really wild about anything else on this album, or the album in general.

I think this is perhaps the pinnacle of his solo albums, but it doesnt carry much of an emotional impact.
Guess i feel that way about much of Pauls solo work.
