A great show!

 

Kylie now equal with Paul McCartney with six UK no 1 albums, however Kylie has spent more weeks in the top 75 album charts, 419 weeks to Macca's 410 weeks.

 

Dare you to drop that nugget in one of the Beatles/Macca threads.

 

Actually Macca hasn't had a no 1 UK album since 1989. That's 29 years, count them 1,2.3.4........

 

Maybe Paul needs to go country.

It’s starting to look a little awkward for her videos to be her swinging with just young guys. I like the mix and video.

 

I’m glad that version isn’t on the album...What a racket.

 

After the second guy you realise she's having a laugh. No way is anything about that clip serious.

 

Mmm, I don’t know. You can only do it for laughs for so long. On one hand it’s the typical Kylie stuff we’ve seen for decades. On the other hand, she’s basically 50 now and be a great choice in playing the lead in Mamma Mia and not the daughter.
Hey, she’s still a very sexy lady and she can pull it off. I sure hope she doesn’t start doing stuff to herself that we’ve seen other aging stars do to keep up the image of youth.

 

She's been sending up the Sex-Kylie thing for as long as she's been doing it. She's more the seaside postcard than someone like Holly Valance who was totally OTT sexy. The first bit of the video is like her version of a Carry On movie.

 

Ah. Holly Valance. I did like her in DOA. That was a movie done for laughs and a wink. I like her one song, Naughty Girl, too.

 

I used to be on a pop music forum and her flop second album (State of Mind) was highly regarded



Straight to the bargain bins.

 

Down to #4 this week. Top of the chart first week in is Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu. I can honestly say this is the first time this century I've seen two consecutive #1 artists live.

 

I have her first album. I bought it in Europe when we visited over a decade ago. It was selling for a buck or a euro, something dirt cheap. You inspired me to check out the second one which was a penny on Amazon.

I gave Kylie’s Golden a few more spins. Not growing on me. Plus I think it’s one of her worst sounding albums. I thought it was the new Bluetooth headphones I just picked up to use with the computer and iPod when mowing or walking on the treadmill. (Not meant for serious listening.) So I played it on the speakers. Awful. Her voice especially sounds poorly recorded.

Kylie at her second home the Royal Albert Hall entertains the Queen.

 

Drops to #9 on the ARIA chart this week. The #6 album by Samantha Jade was selling for AU$5 this week. How it's allegeable to chart at that price is beyond me.

 

It says something though, doesn’t it? Charts being what they are these days and even flogging it for $5 could only get it to number 6 .

 

The charts are terrible everywhere now. You can’t imagine the kids of today following them like we used to, can you?

 

Katy Perry did that trick too. I recall her one album selling super cheap the first week. I even bought it!

They all do things to stuff the ballot box sort of speak. I’d suspect even Kylie with Golden and her various packages that contain an album, CD and cassette might be tweaking the list. (I can’t recall if they included a download too.) I’m not totally sure how they compile these lists anymore but I’ve long given up following them like I used too.

And I’d do it too if I was a recording act.
