I agree. After 70 pages everything has been said and I see no issue with things drifting a bit. This is supposed to be a discussion and discussions wander. Just the natural order of things.

How sweet would it be if the app could wirelessly show you the screen on your phone?

It would be awesome! And when I first heard about the remote-app several years ago, this is exactly the functionality that I was most hoping for. But alas, this is never happening... The app mostly just duplicates the remote control on your phone. And as a consequence, I find it to be less useful than the remote itself is.

Was DAC was the 203 connected to?

Wife: “You have a package. It’s very heavy”
Me: “Ok, I’ll get it (drat, thought she hadn’t been called by the valet)”
    Wife: “What is it?”
    Me (evasively): “It’s a backup....”
    Wife: “Backup for what?”
Me ( still trying): “For the system...”
    Wife: “What system?”
Me: “ You know, the stereo”
    Wife: “You keep buying things...”
Me: “I wasn’t out to buy this. If it hadn’t been for the company...”
Wife: “I don’t want to know. You always have a reason.”
Me: sighing as I unpack the 203....

And that was the price of admission for the second Oppo

It does, download the Media App. You downloaded the remote App.

Tell her it's for her. An OPPO logo'd tote bag!

Yes! She has the previous bag already, which is a funny sight when we go to the market....

Not at home but I show the media one on my phone. So you're saying the a screen mirroring function where I could navigate onscreen menus of a dvd-a?

I believe so. For dvd-a I usually use my remote. IllI get back I'm headed out the door

Sounds like a bargain to me.

Love your wife's last line. Shows acceptance (resignation?) to your "flaws."

Of course, if that was followed by the deep chill- whole nother story.

But I get the feeling that wasn't the case- that would have been part of the price.

Thanks for the humorous glimpse into the LH household. :righton:

And that’s why it’s preferable to beg forgiveness than to ask permission. Well played.

It looks like you were right I couldn't get the remote to mirror the TV. I put my Doobie Brothers DVD-A in which has different screen shots of the band and I couldn't get them to show up on my phone. Playlist yes

Until the next round of 205's become available, I guess I'll concentrate on the upcoming release of Animals in hi-res 5.1, the upcoming XTC release by Steven Wilson, tiling my entry & reconnaissance for a place to retire.

I would think your current location would have tons of spots that are ideal for retirement- loving space and the outdoors as I do.

You looking close to home or thinking of a big move?

Sounds like a plan man. All the best in your search and your retirement.

I love the wide open, clear-aired spaces that seem to be many in your search areas.

Never been to Belize but from what I've gathered- nice wintering.

I spoke with an OPPO rep on the phone yesterday and he said the 205s won’t arrive until late June. I was calling with the cockamamie idea of trading back our unopened 203 for a 205, should we be lucky enough to “win the lotto”. He politely shot me down, post haste.

Just to be clear, I was proposing returning the 203 for full credit towards purchasing a 205, not a straight up trade.

Anyone have any fun OPPO accessories? How about an OPPO (not OPPO Digital) selfie-stick? I have a few more odds and ends around here too.

I went retro and pulled the trigger on a Oppo DAC HA-2 from Amazon Warehouse along with a cinnamon Audioquest cable. I had been using Dragonfly exclusively on the road, so this is a nice option. Lovely sound, nice volume control knob, and overall aesthetics are sleek. The 192khz capability is new to me, so I have been enjoying those files (my Schiit Bifrost DAC only goes 176.1). Viva la Oppo!
