Contrary to popular belief and what was advertised at the time, Security isn't a fully digital recording. The only thing digital about it is the Fairlight sampling. It was partially recorded analog, fully mixed in analog to analog tape (a spectrogram of the SACD or the Hi-Res download will reveal this).

Oh, okay - then, take my post as a reference to a very dynamic digital release of a worldbeat/rock album.

I think 10000 Maniacs In My Tribe cd is DDD... Massive DR numbers, but I've never paid much attention to SQ in this one... Seems fine... It's very quiet anyway

What about the SACD releases of Peter Gabriel? I have the single layer discs of them, most seem dynamic, I will recheck them.

Wow, one of my favorite albums. I have the original LP, and 2 cd's, on with Peace Train, the other with out it. I also have a rare Quiex II release of this, not the Classic Records company, but back in the day, quiex II was a special translucent vinyl, usually for radio stations. It is awesome, but my copy is a bit scratchy.

See below. I think he meant "needn't" based on the second half of his post.

On the whole, they are a bit less dynamic than the original releases, but not brickwalled.
