Keith Richards. The guy was the backbone of the Stones sound and his riffs are legendar-

Whut? Really? No kidding. Never mind.

In that case . . . Warren Zevon.

It is 100% Warren Zevon. Every new development in communication, politics, sexuality and pop culture would benefit from his wry lyrics. I deeply miss him at least once a week.

Andrew Wood. Had such a bright future ahead of him. A talent gone way too soon.

Have not seen anybody else mention them in this thread, but RL Burnside, Jesse Mae Hemphill, Junior Kimbrough. The great ones of the hill country blues.

Also the great Beau Jocque, who I thought was going to be the present and future of zydeco music, IMHO the whole genre is just not the same without him.

Here is three that never played a theater in Philly since the 1970's to my best recollection, and I never got to see play -- Chuck Berry, Roy Orbison, and George Jones.
One that I am glad I did see -- Chris Cornell.

I have been sad about the loss of a great many artists, but the ones I miss the most are the ones that were still making new music that was relevant to me at the time of their deaths. Going back I'd say John Lennon, George Harrison & Kurt Cobain. More recently Prince & Tom Petty. Their most recent work was very good. But the artist I miss the most is Elliott Smith. He was at the peak of his songwriting powers & I very much looked forward to many years of new music.
