My last two vinyl purchases were Kiss 'Alive II' and Testament 'The Legacy'. Both sealed. Kiss is 180 Gram. Testament is green vinyl 'Rhino Rocktober' issue.

Got the Kiss for $20. Glad to add it to my collection. Love how they had original songs on side 4. Rocket Ride is pretty good.

I really like this (JPN) pic sleeve... always liked Moonie's bulls-eye tee.

I got the U.S. 45 single when it came out... I can't remember if it had a pic sleeve or not, but I sure don't have it any more (if it did).

    Foxtrot dark? Muffled? Wut? Erm...no.

Maybe it's a issue of perspective, but I've never considered Foxtrot to be notably recessed, sonically, in that way. It's certainly a product of its time, but it's far from compromised.

SEBTP may be a more cohesive production overall, but in some respects it lacks some of the dynamic contrasts found in its predecessor. SEBTP is by no means a notable sonic achievement either. It's different, but not necessarily better.

This arrived yesterday. Do like me some blues. Because I bought it from her site, Dani was kind enough to sign it.

Mine were a second hand copy of "Funhouse" by the Stooges and a Yep Roc reissue of "Underwater Moonlight" by the Soft Boys.

Please keep in mind that I personally did not use the word "muffled" to describe Foxtrot--just said is was probably their darkest recording in the mastering I've heard. "Darkest" does not mean "compromised." I generally prefer sounds that err on the side of dark than on the side of bright, though of course a perfect balance is ideal. I actually think the Porky pressing of Foxtrot sounds very good on my system, but it's kind of on the edge--if my system were a bit more bass heavy or more reserved in the higher frequencies, the mastering might cross the line into "too dark." Given the reputation of the Porky mastering (and the fact that it sounds good to me, on my system), I haven't sought out alternative pressings. The person to whom I was responding has found other pressings of Foxtrot "muffled," but SEBTP to sound good. On my system, with clean Porky pressings of both, SEBTP indeed sounds more tonally well-balanced than Foxtrot. On a different system, perhaps not--but I also have the sense that over the years, many people have expressed the feeling that SEBTP marked a general sonic improvement. You may be right about the dynamics, but that isn't what I was focusing on.

Last weekend I was in Barnes & Noble and got the Carl Perkins Best of the Sun Sessions and Elvis Presley A Boy from Tupelo LPs, both the store editions (Perkins on red vinyl, Elvis on blue).

I was in there hoping to find the Perkins one, but was not expecting to find the Elvis one!

D'oh, as a Yank I had no idea that was actually a Subway/Underground sign. :hide:

I've got a Who tee like that with the male symbol (♂) coming out of the sign.
