Oh, I do agree with intentional uncaring and laziness but they aren't all bad either. Then there's also long delivery times that are not the sellers doing, but fortunately date stamps tell the tale.

I had this happen to me, but with an added inconvenience. Bought a CD for like $8 on Amazon from MovieMars. They informed me that it was shipped via DHL. I included in my will that if my great-great-great-great grandkids didn't want the CD when it finally arrived, to dig up my casket and put the CD in it with me.

After 12 days with no shipping confirmation, I contacted the seller, who informed me that DHL had damaged the shipping label as such that my address was unreadable, and that it was sent back to them. Rather than put another label on it and send it via, uh, a competent courier, they just cancelled the order. When I went to buy it again (from a different seller, mind you), I saw that they had increased the price from $8 to $16.50.

And that's the last time I've ever used - or will ever use - MovieMars. And any place known for shipping via DHL (ImportCDs, Marvelio, etc.) I stay away from unless I have no other options.
(timidly raises hand) I'm one of these people. I have insomnia and work a 12-hour night shift (3 PM to 3 AM) and barely have enough time to eat and get dressed before I have to go to work. And I can't drive a car so the only time I can make it to the post office is Saturday mornings - get up at 10, walk to post office, come back home, sleep until 3. I put that in my Discogs shipping info. Still get customers every now and then...!

The eBay photo of the CD out of the jewel box, on some sort of abrasive surface . . . .

The worst was a CD, data side down, on what was obviously bathroom floor tile. Omigod, Are you posting items from the toilet?

The same thing happened to me some time ago when I wanted to buy Ryuichi Sakamoto's Neo Geo. I was so pissed off at the seller that I just dropped it all, even though it's not easy to find that album in my country. Seriously, sellers like that can go f themselves.

I just buy all of my CDs from MusicMagpie (aka Zoverstocks aka decluttr store) on eBay and 99% of the time I get CDs cheaper and in better condition than Discogs or Amazon marketplace.

I’ve gotten some rare CDs for dirt cheap!

Gotta say, decluttr store (also aka estocks, yes?) has been pretty good to me too: Cheapest prices, usually very good condition, and if you can identify your desired pressing by UPC, their listings usually are accurate too. The one time I got a bad CD from them, it had a large scratch on the underside, but it still played fine, and they issued me a full refund immediately and didn't ask me to send the CD back to them.

I view them as a little bit of a risk technically, but with the prices so low and the refund process so easy, it's really no risk practically.

    DHL?

My god, DHL hasn't had domestic operations since 2008. They couldn't compete with UPS, FedEx and the USPS any longer and was a big money loser.

Overseas it's a different story, they're pretty huge and they even own the German post office.

DHL's domestic operation is to pass it along to USPS. It's basically... well, paying someone else to take a week to mail it!

(I can understand why they do it, as they do tons of overseas business and it's easier to use one courier instead of two. But still, which is better: sorting the mail based on country and making two trips, or losing domestic customers like flies?)

Every time you another service provider involved, expect delays (UPS Mail Innovations, FedEx Smartpost etc.) Stupid way of doing business.

Yeah when those providers get involved it's normally 7-10 days minimum before item arrives. Really annoying but when the price is good, I can't complain too much.

That's if the package delivers at all. The story I posted was not an isolated incident. I've had at least three of my seven or so unwitting DHL purchases never arrive.

What does DHL stand for, Delivery Hope Lost? I've had a couple of similar long waits by them as well and the same with UPS.

  15. Stupid things that sellers do...
after you ask a question about an item, they say "don't buy anything. let me know which titles you want first." and then they plan on sending you a slightly smaller total that's not even with an invoice, which doesn't save YOU much money but makes buying from them too much of a pain in the *** and you had forgot about this, about why you stopped buying from them, and you remind yourself to never, ever buy from them again....

  17. Offer returns for buyer remorse where buyer pays shipping,
and then HAVE THE POST OFFICE HOLD IT, not deliver it to them.
This dishonesty will only show on their record after ebay has to issue the refund.
    Sickening!!!!!! :realmad:
