Whatever happened to 70s music women?

I recently read some threads about Janis Joplin being forgotten, which is partly true. She has 3 M followers on Spotify (2 M under her name, 1 under BBHC’s) which is, of course, far, far away from The Doors’ 5,5 M or Hendrix’s 6 M. But I remember listening to her for the very first time when I was 12 (six years ago) and I remember thinking “Oh! the screaming lady that everyone talks about!” I recognized Piece of my heart instantly, but it took me years to discover Joni Mitchell or Carole King, both of them creared masterful albums, but nobody talks about them, at least, among my generation, they’re just not talked about, not like Janis, who, of course, is beloved among the young hippies of this century. So, whatever happened to Joni Mitchell, Donna Summer, Carole King, etc?
