I went a little nuts this year, but there were a lot of releases that interested me. Here’s my haul.

    Bought in store:
Courtney Barnett - City Looks Pretty 12”
David Bowie - Welcome to the Blackout
    The Boys - The Boys
Dr. Dre - Dre Day 12”
    Grateful Dead - Fillmore West
Parquet Courts - Mardi Gras Beads 7”
    Pink Floyd - Piper mono
    Ramones - Sundragon Sessions
Marty Stuart - Way Out West Desert Trip Suite One
The Wipers - Live at the Met

    Bought Online:
Baby Huey - The Baby Huey Story: Living Legend
ESG - Come Away With ESG
Grant Green - Funk in France and Oil Can Harry’s
    Killing Joke - Absolute Dissent
Sloppy Seconds - Knock Yer Block Off
    Wire - Nine Sevens

Still waiting for the online stuff to show up, I got lucky with all those and was able to find them at or very close to msrp/normal retail prices. Hooray, capitalism!

You do realize the Johnny Cash singles was a free giveaway?

I probably saw at least 30 of ‘em last Saturday in the 4 or 5 stores I stopped by.

And the word of mouth about it will likely boost the wider release, another plus.

Capitol Records did a vinyl issue of this. 1 LP with about 37 minutes per side. I passed on it.

Who put this one out? I'd like to get it. I see an import 2LP of this listed from 2014. I don't see a RSD listing.

I was there at this show. They actually started the show with "Bad, Bad Sign", then went into "Feelin' Alright". One of the best Cocker shows I've been to.

Yes it was released as an RSD release in Australia by Universal. It's a 2LP set. I've had a look and it doesn't look like it was released anywhere but here for RSD. The sound is excellent and it's a great performance. It would have been an incredible show to be at! I only managed to see him once when he was out here in 2011.

    RE: Wire Box Set

Don't feel too bad. Stranded was asking $114 for the set?? The retail stores prices were more like $89.

Saw it in Newbury Comics late on RSD for $129. Ridiculous.

Yep. But I’m not in Canada and don’t know anyone who lives there who could get one.

So I need to price one out.

I waited in line and wasn’t too far back, but missed my most wanted get: David Bowie, Welcome to the Blackout. I had the toddler with me, and we left the store empty handed to meet mama at a museum. After a little while, I headed to store #2, which was yet to open. David Bowie went fast, but I was able to snag the mono Piper at the Gates of Dawn and the Brian Eno/Kevin Shields single, neither of which I’d seen at the first store. I then went to store #3 and struck out there. I arrived at store #4 with zero expectations after the line had completely dwindled, but they still had the live Bowie! I snagged the last copy, the live Wilco, Jeff Buckley Live at Sin-É, and the Ornette Coleman release. I went back Monday at lunch and store #4 still had the two Grant Green titles, so I picked them up, too.

Pretty good time, I’d say, even with all the searching at multiple stores. I was lucky to find everything on my want list and then some.

  16. And based on early reports about the upcoming album reissues, the mastering on these might be pretty crappy too.

Also, reports are that the sound quality is horrendous.

  18. Although maybe not, as a guy in the Wire Reissues thread reports...

    Dammit! :)

Purchased what turned out to be a pretty badly defective Fleetwood Mac ‎– The Alternate Tango In The Night

Skips for most of track 1 on both sides and then has static throughout the rest of the sides.

Sent in an email to RSD...so we'll see what they can do about it.
