Over the span of 1 week, I ordered several used CD box sets at what seemed like reasonable prices. My biggest mistake was assuming the box sets would actually ship in the first place. For one of the sets, it was missing 1 of the 3 discs and I instantly took a mental loss on that title since 2 out of 3 discs isn't bad.

For the other box sets, they only shipped 1 disc in a jewel case and yet they marked each of the other sets as shipping in the same package which is impossible because that many CDs even without the external box set packages wouldn't fit in a single mailer intended for 1 jewel case. Orders are obviously not being given a final inspection before shipping and either their employees are dishonest or they simply don't care about what is being sent to the buyer.

  2. I'm pretty sure they do little, if any, quality control of their inventory. That is left up to the buyer to complain about.

Interesting to see that the trend in these posts reflects my own experience of increasing disappointment with the estock/declutr store. Over the years, I havdpurchased many cds from them. Mostly, the discs were in reasonably good shape and what came is what I ordered. But, in the past couple of months, I had to request two refunds because what they sent was not what I ordered. Twice, I ordered Genesis - From Genesis to Revelation and both times got something else that was not even close. I finally gave up and bought the disc through Amazon.

More troublesome, every disc I have received from decluttr store in the past couple months has been very scratched, even though the discs were listed as being in very good condition and had that rot in the listing about their “meticulous” inspection. Because the discs were cheap and ripped, I did not ask for a refund, but I have cut way back and if I have a choice with another low cost seller, such as Goodwill sellers, I have gone with Goodwill. At least they are honest about their discs being in acceptable condition, which more accurately describes what decluttr is sending out these days.

When it comes to used CDs, I don't have high expectations that a copy will be mint and am always extremely lenient in terms of condition. However, there is no excuse for an item to be A) missing from inside the case/wrong title in case or B) not shipped at all.

Despite the uncertainty of each order, I try to consider every purchase a donation to the preservation of physical media.

I sincerely want for the company to succeed and believe they could benefit from hiring a consultant who is an expert in warehouse operations. Conduct an internal quality audit and also gather data from anonymous orders to properly identify those weak points to optimize the order picking process while minimizing preventable mistakes and errors.

I've never seen them put up a picture. Who cares? Estocks is the best!

So I'm a little late responding to your question, my apologies. The David Axelrod "Seriously Deep" cd was the correct Cherry Red version, not the Dusty Groove needle drop. In addition, it had the original case and was unsealed per the listing but BRAND NEW MINT. Oh how I love Estocks.

Just snagged one of these for 8.99 and it took a good year or two to get a reasonably priced copy, as the listings indicate. Estocks!

I am starting to think estocks, zuber, declutter and several others are all related and trying to take over ebay music selling.

I got curious and did a comparison by looking at the nation and sender's address on the package where each order is shipped from. decluttr ships the fastest, hence the U.S. address. estocks and zuber are much better in terms of accuracy when filling orders, fewer mistakes and defects.

  9. I don't know if eBay sellers zuber and decluttr are affiliated but I wouldn't be surprised. A few far too cheap purchases from decluttr this year were cancelled and the same item at a much higher price was available from Zuber after the cancellation. Here is the most recent example:

    My purchase:

    Eraserheads : Vol. 1-Anthology CD 828766020625 | eBay

    Zuber listing:

    ERASERHEADS - Vol. 1-anthology - CD - Import - **Excellent Condition** - RARE 828766020625 | eBay
    m2aacb077dd

    The letter received from decluttr:

We are very sorry to inform you that Eraserheads : Vol. 1-Anthology CD for order: US5644172 has failed its final quality inspection.

We check each item before it is booked into stock. However, due to human error or complacency, there are unfortunate occasions when items are not checked to our usual high standard. For this reason we also do a final inspection before items are posted out and when checking this item we discovered that it was damaged beyond repair.

Usually we would write to you to ask if you would still like us to send the item at a reduced price.

Unfortunately, we do not have another copy in stock and must therefore cancel your order.

I can understand how you feel regarding this and wish to apologise for the inconvenience. We feel that rather than dispatching an inferior quality product, only for you to have to return it, it is better to cancel the order before it is sent.

We receive large numbers of incoming stock every day and there is a good chance we may get another copy soon. If you check the item again in future and discover that we have another copy listed, please be assured that it will not be the same copy. Please feel free to purchase the item again if we do list another, as we are confident that you will not encounter the same problem again.

    Best regards,
    Rick

The cheapest way of posting 2 CDs is as a large letter, with the CDs placed next to each other.

That's the same standard reply I got from zoverstocks, estocks or whatever it was called at the time on Amazon.

    Try telling them that!!!

  14. I think I have saved other letters from decluttr that were different but also had nothing to do with the reason the purchase was cancelled. Zoverstocks has been one of my favorite Amazon third party sellers, all good experiences.

I got only once such a reply, but it was practically like yours, word by word. Curious, to say the least.
It was the UK seller, btw.

I think I have received an order from an online retailer where there were 2 CDs in the same large envelope, but they rattle around a bit, so I guess retailers prefer to send them out singularly unless you have more than two or three.

Had 2 recent experiences with Decluttr, purchased 2 different 4-disc CD box sets. Neither were a super-bargain, but both were priced fairly (for pre-owned copies) and I liked the idea of supporting them instead of other sellers. To my surprise and frustration, both box sets were incomplete. One of them contained 3 out of 4 of the CDs, while the other only contained 1 out of the 4 CDs.

  18. That is a typical problem with this seller. “This product has passed our meticulous quality checks and is guaranteed to be in great condition.” guarantee on all CD and DVD listings, doesn't mean they actually count the discs. My recent DVD purchase, listed as 3 box sets:

United Artists Cinema Greats (3 box sets DVD 883904163275 | eBay

The UPC code leads to this on Amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=0883904163275

I was very skeptical but ordered anyway, wish I hadn't, of course I got a single box set with 4 DVDs. The one review on Amazon forewarned me, probably the exact same set I ordered and it had been purchased and returned several times by buyers. My foolish buy so I decided to keep it and stop the cycle.

  19. Happens all the time with this seller, unfortunately. I won't order multiple disc sets from them.

Definitely. Only order 1 copy of each title (no duplicates) and avoid any multi disc sets and the odds are in the favor of most buyers.

Has anyone else noticed that Dexcluttr Store (Estocks) is now charging sales tax?? Today (11/16) is the first time that this has happened to me. (I'm in Illinois, and they ship from Georgia.)

  22. With the recent Supreme Court decision, virtually all US net retailers will be charging sales tax in all states by December or January.

They call it GST here in Australia. They days of cheap cds on Ebay seem to be fading.
