Beatles - Help (6 years old, playing after john was murdered)

Once upon a time in the west - Ennio Morricone (7 years old playing out my own imagined western tale in the livingroom)

Beatles - Abbey Road (9 years old, staying over at my aunt and uncle after my parents just split up)

Pink Floyd - The Wall (15 years old, totally absorped by the concept, convinced to project it on my poor adolescent self)

Toto - Hydra (16 years old Jeff Porcaro was my hero!)

Dream Theater - Images and Words (19 years old, seeing Mike Portnoy live was unreal, animal in the flesh)

Genesis - Selling England By The Pound (27 years old, and that the popgroup I knew made this too, opened the way to lots more)

Steven Wilson - Hand.Cannot.Erase (40 years old, joy/tears/goosebumps/anger/sad/euphoric.....man......that album set me off on a steven wilson rampage :))

    Oops.....that was more than 5.......

That sounded like nothing else when I first heard it (in my friend's mums far. I also remember thinking how easy going his mum was listening to that too, as it seemed a bit too heavy for parents back then!).

I would go clubbing me and my buddies early 90's and Smells Like Teen Spirit would be screaming out on the speakers. When that song was played that loud it was like unworldly. Incredible tune and an incredible album.

"Impacted" is relative on when you grew up. You said FIVE, so that what you get. These 5 I will listen to forever.

Grease Soundtrack - Because as a child it introduced me to the voice of Olivia!
Nevermind - Nirvana - I was a young teenager and got to grow up with a 90's soundtrack!
Madonna - Madonna - Another childhood favorite that always intrigued my imagination.
Jack's Mannequin - Everything In Transit - First listened to SoCo, then in my early 20's this really blew me away!
REM - Automatic For The People - Absolute beauty throughout from my favorite American band.

Most of the albums that become my favorites are ones that take a few listens for me to get it, but there are a few that grabbed me right away

The Who - Who's Next This was one of the first albums I bought when I was first getting into music, and I remember immediately being happy with my purchase. I already knew the hits, but when I realized the album tracks were top-notch as well, it became a favorite of mine.
Rush - 2112 When I first heard this album, I was a big Led Zeppelin fan and was just getting into progressive rock, and I remember thinking that Rush was my idea of a perfect rock band.
Tom Petty - Damn the Torpedoes It took me an oddly long time to give Tom Petty's music a try, but when I did I was a immediately impressed. I was rediscovering folk-rock at the time and I loved Tom Petty's blend of Byrds-inspired jangle and punchy rock.
Black Sabbath - Heaven & Hell I remember not expecting to be impressed by this album, but I decided to listen to it anyway and was floored.
The Kinks - Sleepwalker This is a fairly recent one for me. I never bothered with the Kinks after 1971, expecting it all to be mediocre, but I bought Sleepwalker on a whim and was surprised by how lively and memorable the songwriting and performances were.
