At least she didn't get a bullet to the head like the guy at the back door got.

Was just musing today on the way in to work on how Billy's plan could've gone wrong in many ways, lol. The show seems to be raising the stakes a bit, and I wonder how this will affect Billy's character going forward. Though I still have one S2 episode left to watch.

I also found it hilarious that

David Cross' character also has a cheesy park bench persona, much like his former comedy partner Bob Odenkirk's Saul Goodman on BB/BCS. Crossover?

Tom Wyatt and his scuba track suits was a unique character. I didn’t quite understand the connection to the main Cartel guy. There must be more to the story how 2 guys with the same interest crossed paths.

Again, I haven't finished S2, but the amputee angle on the villains kinda just seemed like it was there for the creepy factor. It does make for memorable villains however, and the Tom Wyatt character was interesting and quirky. I thought the other two guys involved in the plot (Detective Roman & his friend who was always eating fast food) both kind of went down a little too easily though.

There’s already hundreds of reviews of S2 over at Amazon. Lots of 0/5 saying it’s tortue porn and jumped the shark. Will have to be careful who I recommend this to!

Some ridiculous storytelling for the most part, and yet I was fairly transfixed by it all. That said, I was disappointed in the ending. Expected more resolution I suppose.

Finished S2 tonight, and I have to agree, the ending was a bit underwhelming. That said, I enjoyed the season for the most part, though it’s not quite as good as season 1.

I am a bit surprised they didn’t have much in the way of a big courtroom scene here (though perhaps that would’ve been too much like S1). I do hope they continue making the show. Billy Bob is great, & Billy McBride is an awesome character.

I guess I could see where people would be upset. This season and its villains were a lot more gruesome than last, though William Hurt’s S1 villain was problematic in his own way. The big baddies don’t get much in the way of a comeuppance here either.

Though while there was more in the way of shock value, I wouldn’t say the series jumped the shark.

So, how did S2 pan out? It was probably slightly better than S1, which frankly wan't that good. The show doesn't seem to be able to help itself inserting absurd, schlocky, caricatured villains into the show. In S1 it was William Hurt, this season, it was Judd Apatow with his stupid sexual aberration leading to the ridiculous scene in the final episode.

It's a real shame because if you'd cut that character out (no pun intended!), what remains wasn't at all bad. Well, except for the fact that the ending just fizzled out (like it did in S1).

Tania Raymonde (Brittany) was largely wasted in a bit part, but Nina Arianda (Patty) was again the most appealing/entertaining character.

The scene in the final episode you speak of was unforgivably awful.

I mostly agree, although on the whole I enjoyed it.

And it was Mark Duplass, not Judd Apatow.

i loved the scenes w/ the mark duplass character. great performance, he had the tics down of a rich guy trying to affect the common touch, reminded me of of some rich guys i've met. the plot twists are preposterous, but within that framework, the writing on the show is excellent. and the 7th episode is one of the best hours of television i can remember, love the character (and the actress playing her) who helps Billy in that episode.

Don't mean to pigeonhole the guy, but the showrunner this season changed to the guy who used to showrun Dexter, which perhaps accounts for some of this season's gruesomeness.

If there's a third season (and I really hope there is), it may be a good idea to dial back the outlandishness of the villains a bit. I think it would be interesting to have Billy go toe to toe in court with someone who can actually hold their own against him.

I have to agree that I thought Episode 7 was brilliant, and shows what this series is capable of, particularly when it gets out of its comfort zone.

loved the fact that she was an ordinary person, and stayed that way, while still rising to the occasion. no sudden unrealistic heroics.

I just couldn't believe David Cross in his character here - I kept seeing him in Arrested Development or Mr. Show. And the fact that he is bald made me really hate the wig they had on him to make him seem like he had hair (unless we are supposed to know he is bald and see the wig for what it was - bad!!). Regardless, I see him so typecast as a comedy buffoon, I couldn't un-see him that way in Goliath.

I kind of felt like David Cross and Paul Williams were almost stunt casting. Like the producers were trying to really live on the edge with their choices. I also found Cross distracting and not in keeping with the tone of the rest of the show. Paul Williams, on the other hand, worked out well. A long way from Little Enos Burdette.

Honestly, I couldn't keep a smile off my face or keep from laughing every time Cross's character appeared onscreen. Yes, he was basically playing David Cross. But I just can't help but laugh at the parallels with Bob Odenkirk's Saul Goodman, it's too funny.

I really liked Paul Williams' character JT, hope he comes back.

Looked up Williams' soundtrack & voice acting credits on IMDB: holy crap has this man worked. Funny enough, as a kid I first heard him as the voice of Oswald Cobblepot / The Penguin on the classic Batman: the Animated Series in the 1990's (aka, the best TV cartoon series ever made, IMO).

You couldn't turn a TV on in the middle 70s without seeing Paul Williams. Particularly if it was a goofy variety show of some sort.

Really enjoyed Season 2, and honestly, I preferred it to Season 1. The "bottle" episode, in particular, made for an extremely entertaining hour of television. (That bit with the kitchen knife was hilarious!)

I thought Duplas did a great job playing a thoroughly twisted villain. And as out there as he was, he still seemed more believable and less of a caricature than William Hurt's villain from Season 1. Same with the Mexican drug cartel boss. I thought the whole Season 2 supporting cast was excellent.

I agree that David Cross came off a bit too goofy, but for me that had to do with the silly look they had for him, which I found absurd to the point of distraction. I honestly felt like his character would have looked/felt a little more realistic and less clownish if they had toned his look down a bit, made him look less like a sleazy 1970s coke head working on the set of a porno flick. I think they still could have made him look suitably sleazy and less unbelievable/cartoonish if they had just given him a fake mullet or pony tail in the back and kept him bald on top.

I feel secure in saying this isn't a spoiler : I bumped my mouse as the credits began to roll, and one of those factoids came up on the left of the screen, saying Marisol would be back for round two in the universe of Goliath.

Just finished S2 and was quite disappointed overall. I really, really liked S1, and I was willing to give S2 some leeway to tell an altogether-different story.... But about 3 episodes in to S2, it seemed to be jumping a far-away shark in slow-motion. By the last two episodes, I no cared what the heck happened.

The story lines got too whacky, and most of the new cast were unconvincing in their roles (unlike the S1 cast), imo.

    Too bad.
