    Hello,

I just received a Benchmark AHB2 but the seller didn't include the power cord, they are sending it now but I won't get it until middle/end of next week.

In the meantime could I use a different power cord with these specs stamped on the side?

    (UL) C(UL) SJ 3/C 18AWG 105degrees VW-1 300V 100030-765 FT1

The AHB2 manual shows the Rated Input Voltage: 100-120 Vac; 220-240 Vac, Rated Frequency: 50/60 Hz, Rated Input Current: 8A, Protection Class: I

I'm not sure what any of this really means, I just don't want to fry myself or any equipment. Any help is appreciated!

What makes the temp cord work with the AHB2 specs? I'm just trying to learn so take no offense.

No offense at all! In fact, there are others than can better answer your technical question. My response was from experience in that any normal, modern power cord will work on an amp like that. If it fits, it'll work. Of course, what type of power cord sounds best is a different matter.

AWG means American Wire Gauge and relates to the thickness and/or the cross-sectional area of the wire. Lower numbers mean thicker wire, higher numbers indicate thinner wire. This is relevant to the resistance (usually measured in Ohms) to current flow in the cable.

However, I have no answers for the other designations and specs., and leave them to someone more specialised than me !

It's the bare minimum gauge for that power amp. Your 18 gauge cable will work, but it will get warm. It's meant for use with lower power components.

A 14 gauge cable is advised. A local computer store or a local audio store will have what you need. $10-$15.

    Good info!
@draden1 I suggest to operate the amp not near full power until the OEM power cord is received.
