these were from the initial recording session with steve katz producing, he and lou had a falling out (craxy I know (-;) and he left claiming Lou was 'out of his mind'. lou regrouped and came back with Richard Robinson. I like the initial session too but the definitive coney island version is from the album for me

Yes I agree. And the earlier Best Friend is not as good as the later version either - a bit too cheap-fast-and-snarly - but still interesting.

What's nice is that there turns out be some good Lou Reed outtakes or well-recorded demos scattered around. Like the 2 acoustic demos on Transformer, for example.

How would you rate Sally Can't Dance in comparison?

Well.... to me "CIB" is like "Metal Machine Music", "Transformer" or "Berlin", one of Reed's best albums. "SCD" isn't quite in the same league. But it's good.

After the carefully crafted "Transformer" and "Berlin", "Sally" couldn't really expect to get good reviews. Even "Berlin" didn't get them in 1973.

This album's much better but I still like "Sally Can't Dance" better than Lou did.

Single version of "Charley's Girl" isn't on there, as far as I know it's never been re-released.

Not sure what you mean – I bought the 7" single.

The single version of Wild Child from 1st has not been re-released either.

Oh I thought you meant you'd bought the expanded version of "CIB". I've never heard the single version of Wild Child.

Having this now, they pretty much ruined the song simply with the added 'watch out for Charlie' refrain that runs through it. Otherwise the mix is good. And of course it has the Nowhere At All b-side.

No, I meant; would it help to put a plastic sleeve on it to keep the cover clean?

They don't look that clean to start with( 40 year old). Protect them from getting bent, dings.
