It`s a german Compilation from After the rain & Electric mud Album, so this one counts for two. Except Relics & Third it`s all outstanding sounds to discover, and especially for the electric-guitar.
I could have posted any PinkFloyd or SoftMachine Album, a great Compilation & one of my most listened Albums

I was aware of the Muddy Waters album being a compilation of those two albums. It's your choice of them as 5 star records that is the surprise. Most people rate them very low in the Muddy Waters catalogue.
Personally I rate them as 1 star records. To my mind Chess did not look after Muddy Waters very well at all in the 60's releaseing mainly novelty albums even though he recorded many great tracks that went unreleased for years untill the CD era.

When I see people listing 3, 4 or 5 albums by the same band, or when I see people listing 10, 15 or 20 albums - I know they are ignoring the 'don't exaggerate' maxim in the original post. It just feels like people are listing their favourite top ten, or albums by their favourite bands without any thought as to whether the albums really count as 5-star by other people's standards.

I'm afraid it makes it all feel rather worthless as a thread of recommendations.

Yes but by the same token there have been close to 80 albums listed where I agree with the 5 star rating.
It's possible that I agree with some of yours it's possible that I don't.
    Opinions are just that, opinions.

There is of course one particular poster here (he likes to post covers) who seems to make a habit of not following the flow of the thread.

I picked up a used LP of that one back in the spring. I haven't listened to it yet. I didn't know it was a five-star album - I guess I'd better throw it on the platter!

a solid 4.85 for the 1970 album "Still Waters Run Deep" by The Four Tops; 4.89 for the 1968 album "Miles In The Sky" by Miles Davis.
.. still searching for that elusive 4.9.

Heard some other Muddy Waters albums but they didn`t had the thrill of this Bellaphon Compilation, i do also enjoy Folk-blues at times espc. when talkin` bout artists like Fred McDowell or Elmore James who did one step into electric-blues.
I haven`t encountered any other stuff like that yet, would add Howlin`Wolf`s New album.

Yes Howlin Wolf's New album was very similar to those 2 Muddy Waters albums.
Howlin Wolf was so happy with the results that he referred to his album as the dog **** album.

Once Muddy Waters hit Chicago any leaning towards folk blues were gone except for when he was pushed into recording an album in that style by Chess.
Howlin Wolf never ventured into folk blues territory. He started tough in Memphis & remained that way when he moved to Chicago.
