My wife & I are revisiting this show, still has us in tears of laughter! Focusing on several older gentlemen living on a run down housing estate in Scotland. Well worth a view for those who haven’t yet stumbled across it. made by the BBC all episodes are available on YouTube enjoy
Loved it first time around. Wouldn't have thought it would travel that well though - even south of the border!
Lovely programme with one of the all time great endings. Ford and Greg’s earlier collaboration, Chewin’ The Fat, is sporadically brilliant, too, and features early appearances for Jack and Victor. (I’m from England, by the way, but my mum’s side of the family were Scottish, albeit from the other end of the Central Belt so it was never that much of a culture shock)
A couple of favourite moments... 1. Jack & Victor having to deal with a pan under the bed. 2. When J & V decide to decorate for Isa. EDIT: 3. When the gang think J & V are gay, and Tam takes a friend over to theirs for a drink, then quickly disappears. "We'll finish these, then we'll have a wee chug?"
I've never heard it described as a "BRITISH" comedy! It is unashamedly SCOTTISH comedy that has unique Scots humour that does not travel south of the border.
I recently finished my second run through the series. There's at least one good laugh in every episode.
Our family's all-time favorite "homemade pizza night, what can we all agree on to watch?" show. Absolutely love it. We've no doubt watched most episodes 2-3 times.
Och away. Don't be so sure. My daddy was a transplanted Glaswegian so I had no trouble deciphering the accents. Hard to choose, but my favourite two episodes: 'Cauld' (S01, Ep 3) and 'Hyper' (S06, Ep 5) Both ended hilariously and memorably! Top notch writing until the final series when it went off a cliff. Such a great series and one I've recommended to many friends, who, yes, need the subtitles on!
Love love love this show, can't say enough good about it. Funny, with some heart on occasion. Being a Yank I do use the captions but then I've memorized enough of the shows to not need captions much. Love it. Great though sad ending. One for the tv ages. Chewin' The Fat, also hilarious with these two.
