Dug out another JSP title for a spin this evening. Johnny on Side 1, and Blind Will on Side 2, which is also a fun listen. Johnny Shines / Blind Will Dukes - ´Country Blues´ (JSP Records - 1984)
That's the one I saw in store this week though wasn't sure it was the original. Didn't matter as I have the reissue with the blue jacket.
This title is on the list for re-issue on SACD and vinyl as part of Analogue Productions "Atlantic 75" series.
How do I best buy on a vinyl LP his original Stormy Monday cut, preferably amongst other like late 40's material Keith?
You might not like this answer due to price , but in my opinion, it is the ultimate T-Bone compilation and will include his 1940+ releases. Mosaic did a great job with the reissue, plus it includes an excellent and informative booklet. If you are a fan, save your pennies and "bite the bullet"! You will not regret it ... The Complete Recordings Of T-Bone Walker 1940-1954 - 9 LP (Mosaic Records 1990)
Sounds great but I gotta walk before I can run so I appreciate that great advice but gotta identify a single or double album set.
Try this one on for size ... 1945 - 1950 performances, including Stormy Monday. If you are on a "Beer Budget", just pick up a later reissue. The Great Blues Vocals And Guitar Of T-Bone Walker (His Original 1945-1950 Performances) Capitol Records - 1963
