    Losing John Lennon still hurts.

Best Lennon album? The White Album. Track for track (other than Bungalow Bill) Lennon nailed it, yes even "Goodnight" and "Revolution 9".

I would go so far as to say that the best Beatles "solo" compilation ever would be the one made of all of Lennon's tracks on the White Album. Sheer brilliance.

To say we miss him is a vast understatement.

He is still my personal hero, warts and all.

Plastic Ono Band was huge for me, hearing it when it came out when I was about 16. It made a difference in how I thought about music, about what could be done with music.

I still have the newspaper from the following morning. Seattle Times, I think, but I haven't looked at it in about 15 years. Very sad night the previous evening.

    Still devastating. And infuriating.

But then I focus what happiness he gave and the goodness he brought so, so many......

I was about 6 years old and I remember vividly all the woman in my family crying. I was just playing having a blast and then my mom my aunt and my grandmother all crying. I asked what was wrong and they said John Lennon of the Beatles had died. I remember it like it was yesterday, so vivid. I knew even then that it wasn't fair.

John provided a highly visible, brilliant example of individuality, its qualities, challenges and importance, both on and off the records. Even his absence can remind us.

He died after I was born and I grew up listening to his music. If only he were here to see how many people still miss him.
