In the New Year I will have roughly a grand to spend on a second room system. What would you do?

My main system is admittedly humble compared to most here but Im happy with it. I would however like to have the option of having a separate system in my living room.

    Current set up below..

    Pro-ject Carbon Debut
    Pro-ject Tube Box Pre
Cambridge Audio amp (pretty low budget)
    Dali Zensor Speakers

    So, any ideas?

Does it need to include ALL components (analog source, amp, speakers)? or do you have an extra analog source you're going to use it with? and if it's a TT, do you need a phono preamp or do you have an extra one?

£438. So a Rega amp & speakers for £986... just no source!

Given all UK prices are quoted inclusive of 20% vat (sales tax) about $1,300?

Spend the money upgrading your main system. Forget the second one.

Well, purely as a theoretical exercise, I'd probably look at recreating my curent system with close equivalents as I know it works well:-

    Michell Mycro + SME 3009 - £450 (s/h)
    Shure M75 or M91 cart - (s/h) ~£30
Jico SAS stylus (for whatever cart you get) ~ £80
    Onkyo A9030 - £170
    either:-
    Tannoy DC4 - £200 (smallish room)
    Tannoy DC6 - £250 (med size room)
    So that's £980 / £930 depending on speaker choice

With a contingency of Q Acoustics 2020i as speaker. I heard a pair of these on the end of a multi thousand upstream system, and they were monumental, although it was a fair bit louder than "normal" listening volumes, so you'd need to check them out in a quieter setting.
