Bonzo Dog Band - Dougnut in Granny's Greenhouse
    Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow
    Kinks - Arthur
    Kinks - Something Else

How many of you first heard this in the '60s?

    Only the Walker Brothers singles.
Seen a Philips window display for Scott 4 in in 1969.
Thought Scott Walker was schmaltzy at the time. :)
The same shop window display also featured David Bowie
(space oddity) album, way cooler I thought.

I am also, but its interesting how most of the posters are picking stuff from mainly 7-10 groups mostly

Remove those 10, and what do you have? (( some STILL have some interesting albums though ))

I guess music is far far more diversified since the 80s, especially into the 90s and wildly diverse into the 2000's!

From 1990 onwards, if we did a poll like this, it would be all over the place with hundreds of albums listed, instead of the mostly similar 60's listings im seeing on this thread.

In the 60's it seems to like rock, you HAD TO, like the same basic 10-20 groups, and everyone listened to mostly the same music.

Not saying thats bad per se, but there is so much great stuff that seems forgotten. There were literally thousands of albums released in the 60s, and tons of great stuff that didnt come from these same 20 warhorses.

All you see is Beatles, Stones, Who, Kinks, Hendrix, Doors, Dylan, Beach Boys, Zep......:sigh:

I suppose its the Rose colored glasses syndrome. We all tend to forget stuff over 40 years......!

Just the consensus picks from this forum. I would guess music was pretty diverse back in the 60s.
