For me, McCartney's "Tug Of War" is the only real contender for the No. 1 spot in the rankings of "great albums with one bad song."
I'm sure I don't even have to mention the name of the song....

I gotta say, 2/3 of the songs on that list are BS inclusions, if you ask me.

    Let It Bleed?!
    Octopuse's Gardun?!

    Synchronicity doesn't have "Mother".

Oh wait - maybe that's just my version. But problem solved.

I couldn't agree with the headline of this article less. It's really a rare track that is so bad that it can "ruin" an otherwise great album. Maybe so rare as to be nonexistent--the worst offender I can think of in my own experience is "Run For Your Life" putting a sour note at the end of "Rubber Soul", and even that doesn't nearly "ruin" the album.

Most of the great albums are not "perfect" albums with no artistic misfires on them. Instead, they're albums that take artistic risks and innovate, and this sort of innovation usually leads to a miss or two. On the great albums, the innovations hit much more often than they miss, and, even then, the misses usually have some redeeming qualities to them. But they rarely never miss. When I listen to an album, I am looking for something creative and exciting, not something that is "perfect". Insistence on perfection is the route to appraising albums rather than enjoying them.

More like one list ruined by 15 examples of lame writing. "This song stinks because it's stupid and we don't like it." Great insight.

My copy of "Nevermind" hasn't got "Endless, Nameless" on it....

"Let It Bleed" is a silly inclusion. It's not nearly the best track on "Let It Bleed", and it wouldn't hold up as a single, but it's terrific as an album track. I like how it winds down side one.

The word "ruin" is not accurate in this case. Putting aside the actual song choices in the article, the simple fact that one or more songs are less stellar than the others does not ruin an album. The writers must have a very low tolerance level.

Mother is horrible, but I like A Man Needs a Maid and (recalling hearing it once 40 years ago) You See Me Crying.

Are these 15 albums "ruined" or "great?" They can't be both.

Sounds like yet another list by young hipsters trying to be relevant somehow by showing their "developed" tastes while lacking cultural and historic context.
