Audio Note M9 RIAA Signature phono stage £110,000 Audio Note M9 RIAA Signature phono stage Review, Part 1
Let's see.... phono stage vs new Porsche, phono stage vs house, phono stage vs used Ferrari or Lambo, phono stage vs two Corvettes, phono stage vs complete very high end stereo rig, hmmmm. Decisions, decisions.
Bass was nice and solid. Treble was airy and extended. Midrange was very lifelike. A strong recommendation, albeit a bit pricey.
Reminds me of those billionaires that spend 6 figures ALONE on their place settings for their mega-yachts. I'd rather pay off someone's student loans than spend that much on a phono stage.
Agreed. I feel lucky to be able to give a couple hundred bucks to charity each year. I’d use that money to do something really cool like serve hot dinners to the homeless on Christmas or take kids to the science museum or something socially redeeming rather than ego stroke. But then some will plop down for a $12k mono cart so...that speaks volumes about planet earth in 2018.
I don't think that those who can afford these things really have to worry too much about foregoing something else; they can have it all without selling body parts. A local dealer once had the M10 phono, M10 linestage and the big Audio Note table set up in a middle-sized room. The room was filled with shiny boxes. The M10 stuff has huge power supply boxes, but, nothing like the turntable. The table came with a speed control box and three gigantic power supply boxes that powered the three motors on the table. It was kind of an overwhelming sight.
Yeah, this is a bit much. I'd love to know how they arrive at/justify the price from the parts that are inside. No way it's even close to that much.
Yes but in my experience they take too long to break in. I'm not patient so I bought four of these in a row expecting the next to sound better than the previous one but in the end it was just a matter of waiting to break in.
I built a head amp. So simple, so cheap. Bit more work with a phono stage. Circuit is standard RIAA. I am not clever, i merely followed A diagram. Audio note way over the top. Thing is your room is the vital thing here. Quality of the recording, And so fourth. I.loose all respect for such a firm. My all time favourite was the Mitchell ISO HR. Is the Audio Note actually better.
Maybe the salesperson/store/website that sells one will chime in here one day and give us the scoop on how that sale goes........That is more interesting to me than what this stage might sound like.
For that price I would demand happy ending stress relief with EVERY use of the device, forever. It would still be grossly overpriced.
Not to sound cynical but for $150K, every square inch should exude first rate workmanship and materials, not a typical black painted chassis of steel stampings and aluminum faceplate.
