    and when paired with the 1974 followup, "Phases and Stages" I'd have to say the pair changed my "musical life" as much as hearing the Beatles for the first time in the early 1960s.

    All these albums are great and I own most but the Doobies "The Captain and Me" always had a speacial place for me :hugs::pineapple:

    It was a very tough call between Mott and Paris 1919. (I figured John Cale needed a little love, so it went to him).

    Other. A tie because I honestly can't pick one or the other--both defined the sound of the year, both Warner Brothers/Ted Templeman/Donn Landee productions:

    Genesis - Selling England by the Pound

    The magnificent playing by Steve Hackett and Tony Banks , Peter Gabriel vocals , they Bring magic and so much emotion to the music, the fantastic playing by Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins . There is so much power and beauty in the music.
