The polls are open as of me writing this post.

They will close on Saturday, August 9th at Noon CST

Your list should be posted in this thread. You are free to change/update your list until the deadline is reached

How you come up with your selections is up to you. Greatest, favorite, desert island, whatever...

Minimum Number Of Albums Per User: 50 (Any user posting less than 50 will not have their entry counted)

Maximum Number Of Albums Per User: 100 (Any albums over 100 will not be counted towards the poll)

Your entries should look like this:

    5 - The Clash - London Calling

This will make it much easier for me to compile the data

    Scoring System:
Albums will be rewarded points based upon the rank you give it. Your #1 selection will receive 100 Points; your #100 selection will receive 1 point

If you fail to rank your albums, they will be awarded points in the order you listed them in your post

If 2 albums are tied with the same number of points, the one that received the most votes will place higher

If you want to include comments for any of your entries, that is fine, just PM me them separately

If a bunch of people comment on the same album, I may have to limit the number shown on the countdown

There is no cap on the number of entries per artist

If you feel something that was released this year belongs on the list, that is fine

For the purposes of the poll, there will be no difference made between country-specific versions. If you want to specify a version that is fine. If you nominate the Clash’s debut, both the UK & US versions will be part of that single entry

The above is also true for Mono/Stereo

Mastering of the album will not be part of the voting process, but if you want to factor that in your own decision-making process, that is fine

    Types Of Albums Included:
    -“Normal” Albums
    -Live Albums
-Soundtracks That Contain 90% Original Material To That Release
    -Original Movie Scores
-Classical Music (As Long It Refers To A Specific Performance)

    Types Of Albums Not Included:
    -Box Sets
    -Greatest Hits
    -Compilations
-Soundtracks That Contain Less Than 90% Original Material To That Release

The ultimate decision if an album counts or not will be made by me. If I disqualify one of your entries, you will be able to replace it with something else

Albums That Have Already Had Rulings Made On Them:
    Beatles: Hey Jude – No
Beatles: Magical Mystery Tour – Yes
Ray Charles: Ray Charles – Yes
Mission Of Burma: Mission Of Burma – No
Frank Sinatra: This Is Sinatra – No

If you have any questions, you can either post them in this thread or send me a PM.

    Thanks

    Have Fun

    Dave

Each 100-item post should include a $5.00 donation to the Hoffman Forums for additional server space!

Seriously, how can you come up with a list of 100 items - in order - in a couple of hours? Give me a couple of days, and I may have something in order.

"Hey Jude" is one of my favorite albums from my childhood - it'll probably be in the 50's on my chart. Will you consider changing this rule for us children of the orange capitol label era?

Well there has been another thread about this since early this week, so some people may have started working it on then.

This will be open for about 3 weeks, so it should be plenty of time for people to come up with a list.

Sorry, Hey Jude has been ruled out already.

  14. No Hey Jude for this brood, the dude has established that.

    Great job, BigDave!

I don't agree with all the rules, but they're clear, they're logical, and I think we're going to end up with a fantastic list. Excellent work.:righton:

I'm also blown away by a lot of the less-than-obvious choices that have been listed so far. I think the final tally is going to be less predictable than a lot of folks (including me) might have thought.]

Many thanks for taking this on.

No problem, this is fun for me.

It will be interesting to see if this can get the silent majority to speak up and to see what they exactly like.

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

Yikes! When do we see the results?

  21. My apologies if this is counted as a threadcrap but I'm not sure I even know 50 albums that I like! Why is there a minimum number of entries? :(

It will be hard to tell until the voting closes and I know how many entries I have to tally.

To encourage members to include some lesser know stuff. One of the great things about a list like this is seeing that fringe stuff that really would not make it if people were only giving 10-20 albums.

somebody wrote the clash the clash

which version? somealbums have a UK and a US version (ie. aftermath)

also i think its wrong not to include greatest hits in some cases.....i mean little richard's first album was essentially a greatest hits album compiling his singles..also for a guy like chuck berry it seems wrong not to be able to pick the great 28
