Why start wavering with the rules at this point ?

If so, why not allow compilations and top 300 lists and extend the deadline to August 30th ? I'd be more than happy.

I don't consider the deadline be extended a change of the rules. It is not really go to matter since I am nowhere close to having anything compiled.

I'm sure Grant can pull in quite a bunch of oldtimers, but what's the point, really ? More 'Abbey Road's and 'Let It Bleed's and 'Déjà Vu's and ... ? I think the lists posted so far are a pretty fair representation of this forum's preferences. I'm perfectly aware BigDave is prepared to extend the deadline, but it has to stop at some point. Another week ? Sure. Why not ? End of August, perhaps ? Why not give it another two weeks ? Well, maybe. I guess. When is this going to stop ? It's a slippery slope !

Why not stop right here and reflect on our top 5,000+ ?

    All the best,

    Robert

i would guess that anyone who complains about the same old albums heading this final list isn't quite getting the point of the original idea.

  23. Never mind the Sex Pistols

I’ve been lurking here for six years and this is my first post. I really wanted to document these favorites for posterity, especially for my three-year-old daughter.

My musical tastes were pretty much cemented around the age of nine, when my Dad gave me three albums from his collection - Sgt. Pepper’s, Abbey Road and Bringing It All Back Home. Now I’m forty and my collection has grown to nearly 1200 titles, but as you can see below, those first three are still in my personal top twenty.

Glad you started posting! I put Sinatra in my top 10 with the Beatles as well. I didn't try to put any other of my jazz or classical in my top 100, but Frankie's like a rock star to me, anyway. :)
