In hindsight is this still the best way to hear these number one hits? Do you still listen to it?

No, it's not the best way. The original mixes are the definitive versions, IMO. But they're an interesting change, and certainly sound great.

Giles Martin said that he used the mono as the template and just gave the songs more clarity. Mono in Stereo.

I like most of the mixes but they are mastered excessively loud.

For me original mono is best. I like the remixes better than the original stereos though.

Gave this a proper listen again. Giles, you're a genius! Using the mono as the template gives these recording so much power. These are the best versions of these songs available.

I've owned the CD in the past, but just got a vinyl copy from the San Francisco Public Library as part of their new vinyl-lending program.
I'm very late to the discussion ~ can someone tell me if Giles Martin's remixes were done in all analog for the vinyl pressing?

A lot of these remixes just sound like originals but not as wide and with hilariously bad compression artifacts. I'm amazed that they even bothered, considering how poor the results are compared to the originals.

I quite like it. I don't get the Giles Martin bashing around here. I think he did great work with Love, the 2015 version of 1, and the stereo remix of Pepper. Could the stuff have been done better? perhaps. But I still think he did a good job. I like all of those albums, some of the stuff very much.

Then again, I love the 2014 vinyl mono reissues also. And those are more true to the original records (albeit with more bass).

Even the really bad stereo of their earliest records isn't that bad---It is still the Beatles you are hearing. They sound better in split 2 track than most bands sound with a great mix.

The videos are great. The remixes on the 2015 CD sound unnatural to me, but they were interesting to listen to once.

I’ve had the cd for 6 months and I’m still listening to it. I wish they would let Giles remix the whole catalogue like this. I love the fact that the songs are in stereo but the bottom end still has a lot of weight like the mono mixes. Perfect combo :)

As AndyK said, I think people really go overboard when it comes to the Giles put-downs. He did a superb job on L O V E and while some may not personally prefer it, he did a very good job on Sgt. Pepper. While I do have my own handful of criticisms on the latter, the overall result is-in my view-very well done and serves as an excellent alternate listening experience to the original. The remix on four Pepper tracks in particular (She's Leaving Home, Getting Better, WYWY and Fixing A Hole)has given me a whole new love for them. Far as "1", while there are a few of instances where I'm left scratching my head (specifically, the distortion on Let It be, the thinness of Get Back, that leftover piano note on BOJAY, and the driving rhythm guitar on IWTHYH pushed to the back), I think he did quite well; if all I'm in the mood for are the primary hits with nothing in-between, it's this remixed CD I go to.

..so when you say "definitive", you're saying that that the original mixes is the best way that the songs can possibly sound?
