    1. Favourite new album of 2018:

This is difficult but here's a four-way tie off the top of my head:

    Parquet Courts - Wide Awake!
    The Limiñanas - Shadow People
    Ty Segall - Freedom's Goblin
Confidence Man - Confident Music For Confident People

    2. Favourite archival release of 2018 so far?
The Who - Fillmore East 1968

    3. Most exciting forthcoming 2018 release (new or archival)?
The new My Bloody Valentine or Spiritualized but I'm open to anything, really. I'm sure there'll be a few pleasant surprises along the way.

    1. Snail Mail. Not even close. It will take a lot to eclipse this album.
    2. Springsteen Vol. 2 box set. It's what Boss fans have been clamoring for.

I don't know. :shrug:Kevin Shields said last year they would release an album in 2018 "one hundred percent." Now I read they are going to release a couple of EPs - let's see what happens.

    1. Favourite new album of 2018:
Haven't heard that much new, but

Johnny Marr - Call The Comet

is a strong contender. Great guitar rock somewhere between retro and fresh alternative, didn't know he had such song writing skills.

    2. Favourite archival release of 2018 so far?
The Cure - Mixed Up (Deluxe Edition)

    3. Most exciting forthcoming 2018 release (new or archival)?
Would be great to get something officially unknown from Led Zep,
    Japan live maybe.

    2. I'm going to stretch the rules a bit and go with John Coltrane's new album coming out next week.
    3. Offhand, I'll go with Ty Segall and White Fence's new collaborative album. I loved the last one from six years ago.

Only Prine (in this case with co-author Pat McLaughlin) could deliver such a glum view of old age with a smile in his voice and his tongue a bit in his cheek:

When your Grandkids all are grown
And they put you in a home
    And eternity is approaching fast

Yeah, you're half out of your head
And you probably pissed the bed
And you can't see a thing
    To save your ass

    And far across the prairie
    In the local cemetery
They already got your name carved out in stone
    When all them nurses say
"Grandpa, why you walk that way?"
Just blame it on that old Crazy Bone
