Time runs out for some '24' actors
Several CTU members may not be back

LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- "24's" Counter Terrorism Unit will undergo some major downsizing this fall.

Sources said that the actors who play Jack Bauer's (Kiefer Sutherland) CTU colleagues on the Fox drama have been informed that their options as series regulars will not be picked up for next season.

Reiko Aylesworth and James Badge Dale, who play CTU members Michelle Dessler and Chase Edmunds, respectively, received the news just as they were to attend the Fox party after the network's upfront presentation to advertisers last Thursday, sources said.

The two, as well as Carlos Bernard (aka CTU's Tony Almeida), could return to the real-time drama next season for guest appearances.

Also up in the air is the "24" future of Mary Lynn Rajskub, Zachary Quinto and Daniel Dae Kim, who played CTU members on a recurring basis.

Meanwhile, Elisha Cuthbert, who plays Jack's daughter and CTU analyst Kimberly Bauer, is fielding film offers and is expected to recur next season subject to her availability. She was most recently in theaters playing a former porn star in "The Girl Next Door."

I have a feeling next year may be one of those ".....5 years later" kinda deals. They probably won't pick up the storyline from the end of this season.

Oh well, Jack's the man....as long as he's there.

    Just got this from canoe.ca

Rather than kick off the next 24 episodes in November, Fox has decided to premiere it in January and then run all 24 hours uninterrupted -- including a two-hour debut, a two-hour episode at the midway point and a two-hour finale for 2005's May sweeps.

Uninterrupted? Do they mean we won't skip any weeks? Can't mean commercial free!

    2 hour episodes! Rockin! :righton:

That's stupid. Why take away the people who made this season as good as it is?

Well, I kinda like the fact they change season to season. No Kate this year (the hot blonde from last year) or Mike (the Chief of Staff) .....no Michelle next year. As long as the core is there, Jack, The Prez, Kim ( ).....have no fear. It'll be great!

Actually, while I like the actor that plays the President, the writers have done a miserable job makeing his story lines interesting to the point I wouldn't care if he didn't return next season. And don't get me started on Kim- I think the next season should start with her dramatic death!

The way it was going earlier this season I was kind of thinking that next year Nina Myers and Sherry Palmer were going to team up together, but I guess that's not going to happen now. Unless they do a prequel. :)

  8. Kate Warner was played by actress Sarah Wynter. I was kind of disappointed that she did not return this season, as well as the brunette Canadian actress (can't remember her name) who poisoned President Palmer at the end of last season.
President David Palmer is played by Dennis Haysbert. If you like his work in 24 you should rent the video/DVD of the Julianne Moore, Dennis Quaid 2002 film, Far From Heaven. Moore is the perfect 1950s housewife, and when stress and grief arrive in her marriage to Dennis Quaid, she finds consolation in the friendship of their African-American gardener, Raymond played by Dennis Haysbert.

What Miike said: Haysbert is terrific in "Far From Heaven."

For what it's worth, despite Palmer telling Jack that he won't be seeking reelection, I've heard that Haysbert has been signed on for next season. Maybe he'll team up with Jack to track down the bad guys (and hot chick) who poisioned him last season. ;)

Haysbert also did a good part with the character in Heat (Pacino, De Niro) who is just out of jail and trying to go straight, working the frier in a little diner. Does a good job with that role. Makes you believe he's having a brief internal conflict when given an ultimatum about doing a bank hiest.
