    I'm only interested if there's a 5.1 mix.

By the description, it just seems like the regular album, and a bonus live recording (mixed by Ken Scott). No 5.1.

if so a major disappointment and another missed opportunity. very few recordings would be as impressive in surround than this one.

I think we need to wait for more details to come out. Personally I'm mostly interested in the Vinyl release of this, but I know many others want a 5.1 release.

Agreed, a big Missed opportunity for us, but it's an opportunity for them to "milk" us who want any sonic upgrades.
Wait until the 45th or 50th. Sadly.

The good thing about this release is that the SHM-SACD will not be far away. Yes! :)

Considering that my original MoFi vinyl is maybe the best LP I own, this is interesting, but not quite sure how much improvement I'll see.

Another "Crime of the Century" edition. Just what the world needed.

Unless it's 5.1 I'm sticking with my MFSL CD version.

Is that why the SHM-SACD release stalled?

Ken Scott said that the only version worth hearing and that really conveys the artistic intent of the band is the original LP he mastered. Apparently he wasn't too keen on the MFSL mastering or any CD. :)

I wonder if he supervised this new reissue, other than the live disc?

So the original Engineer thinks HIS version is THE ultimate. Imagine that!

(not saying that it's not, I've only had the MoFi vinyl and one CD version, so I can only attest to my taste that I love the MoFi vinyl 1-005, YMMV)

My copy of the Speaker's Corner reissue is good enough for me.

Same, if the bluray has a 5.1 I'm in, no 5.1 and not worth it for me.

The SC reissue is outstanding, but I don't know how it compares to the MFSL reissue. I'm getting mixed opinions as to which one is better. Still, I'm looking for a MFSL as I want it, but so far no luck. Last copy I inquired about had a cover that was almost completely trashed, yet he wanted top dollar. I'll find one...I'm patient.

  21. I consider my original UK pressing of "Crime Of The Century" one of the best-sounding records in my collection (and it's one of the thinnest, BTW).

I picked up a used copy of this not to long ago. Still in great shape and sounds great.

I really want that Live bonus vinyl, so this really is a no-brainer purchase for me.

We actually do need it. All the digital versions I've heard (including the MFSL CD) suck, IMO. The best version I have heard is the original UK Vinyl, followed by the Speakers Corner vinyl. I doubt this forthcoming release will sound half as good as them.

Yup, it's a beauty. And it blows away the MFSL vinyl.
