I'm surprised PoFolks hasn't re-named themselves to "Economically Disadvantaged People-Group".

On the flipside, I see county music artist albums at Cracker Barrel locations. It's sort of become the Starbucks of country music that way.

I also used to love PF. Even if the chain was still around here, though, I can't eat like that anymore - I think each meal had 40,000 calories and 5000 grams of fat! :D

Correct. Hardees bought them and screwed the pooch - RR essentially disappeared due to that mismanagement, not because they "failed".

There are still a bunch of them in my area anyway...

My first job was bus boy at the Po' Folks on White Bridge Rd. in Nashville. Lasted 2 months. Got fired because I was too damn slow at cleaning tables.

Hardees must be the Universal Music Group of Foodtopia. When I was a kid, there was a burger chain called Burger Chef which I liked better than McDonalds at the time. At the moment Beatlemania was introduced to me by Ed Sullivan, it seemed like Burger Chef had five hundred million locations. Bam, a minute later they were gobbled up by Hardees and disappeared off the planet.

I think there's a lot of overlap in "Wal Mart types" and "Fried Food types."

Hardee's itself no longer really exists, except as the name Carls' Jr. continues to use in Hardee's old territories due to it's familiarity.

Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles seems to do bang-up business in Hotlanta.

Back in the 80's Hardees had amazing cinnamon raisin biscuits. I haven't tried them lately so I don't know if they're still as good as I remember.

It really is the best patty sausage out there, high quality and tasty. I've always been able to find it in stores, and even found a huge 3 lb package at CostCo - I don't see this belonging on any list of failures.

Cool! Looks like there are 8 locations left (7 in Florida and 1 in Alabama). All the ones in SC and apparently everywhere except 2 states are gone.
