It might be in the Sgt Pepper thread, I had printed quotes from both that I had found online on the track.....was just looking for them but can't remember where I found it and not really that important to waste more time. Anyhoo.....I am pretty sure it is in one of my posts there.
Paul seems to like "Carnival of Light" which I find sort of interesting. I would think if it was absolutely total junk he wouldn't speak well of it. Obviously whatever "Carnival of Light" offers will be slight but I'm always interested in what the Beatles did in that era. But,I like the goofy "music" behind John's spaghetti shoveling scene in Magical Mystery Tour, so I guess I don't set the bar very high when it comes to enjoying Beatles things.
There's been a lot of bickering, accusations of trolling, and not a lot relating to anything concrete. This thread is going on vacation for at least a few days. Let's re-group when we have something to say, OK? Love to all.
The thread has been re-opened. Please, let's remember a few things: 1) We can respectfully disagree without attacking each other. 2) There's no need to be condescending. Nothing has been confirmed. If you don't think there's going to be a special release of the White Album later this year, there's no need to keep arguing with someone that thinks there will be. Also: Nothing has been confirmed. Lastly, if you can't play nice, there will be thread bans. Love to all.
Interesting "report" last Monday (28th May) on the Wogblog site: "There are news going 'round that Tim Young has finished mastering the Beatles' "The Beatles" (aka White Album) in 5.1 surround sound as well as in stereo at Metropolis Mastering in London. He had been going a few times to Abbey Road for meetings with Giles Martin during the project. The actual mixings were done by Giles Martin and probably Sam Okell".
That sounds promising. The mastering on Love is a lot tamer than on the Sgt Pepper remix if I recall correctly.
Prefer the "Ballads " comp when the White Album was titled A Dolls House, by ( did Gerry Rafferty album art )artist Patrick.
Back when the working title was still A Doll's House, I believe (the cover photo eventually used for The Beatles Ballads was also under consideration). Richard Hamilton's cover design is just slightly better than that one!
I wonder if this might be in response to the complaints about the mastering on Sgt Pepper 50th? Have Apple Corps and Giles taken note of the issues. Time will tell.
I'm wondering whether we might be getting a more straightforward and smaller anniversary version of the White Album. Might just be a new stereo mix and a 5.1 DVD/Bluray with no additional audio. I certainly hope not.
A lot of the Pepper 50 remix complaints were about the compression baked into this mix itself. What would be great if Giles can keep those down to Love levels, which I definitely prefer sound wise to Pepper 50. We did get better mastering on the Pepper 50 vinyl and so let’s hope they apply the same lighter touch on digital formats as well this time (especially the hires versions). This is where Tim Young comes into the picture for the upcoming WA.
