The titles of his two best albums start with the word "Born." That's my opinion.

Actually, they start with "The Wild" and "Darkness". My opinion :righton:

Do they? I'm not a big Bruce fan but isn't it one of his most successful albums?

And I haven't even gotten to the part about the delivery system for the two Borns, the Tunnel of Love. That may be my third favorite.

Along with "Born" and "Darkness" as first words, I would add "The" and "Nebraska".

Many of Springsteen's best albums contain the word "The."

Commercially, yes. But artistically many hate it.

I don't think you'll get much argument there.

I prefer Darkness and Born 1, but the two Borns would certainly be a defensible position.

How's this for controversial: His best two albums don't feature Clarence Clemons.

Rarely has such a clickbait thread title been coupled with such a bland payoff...

In my opinion, Springsteen's two best albums are Roy Bittanless and Max Weimbergless. Discuss

The only 3 Springsteen albums I still listen to are: Darkness On the Edge of Town and The River and Nebraska. Brilliant. And the three of them don't have a word in common in their titles.

His recent albums? I haven't found any of them worth listening to more than once.

(edited to fix my math) ;)

And yet - David Bowie's best album is Roy Bittanful.

There's this opinion: Adding Tom Morello to the mix was like applying the paddles to a skeleton's chest. You just ain't gonna make dem bones git up and dance agin.

If anyone is going to be born, the "Tunnel of Love" is going to be involved - both at the beginning and at the end. I do have to say, the part at the beginning is a lot more enjoyable than the part at the end. I mean, I won't know for sure, as I don't have a "Tunnel of Love" myself, though I've been in a few.

Edit to add: That's what we're talking about, right? Or are the kids calling it something else these days.

Without the Rising and the Tunnel there could never be a Born.

But ultimately the part at the end can be a lot more rewarding. Especially if the kid turns out to be a Springsteem.

Nebraska - not controversial. Human Touch - controversial.

In all seriousness, though, it's tough to come up with controversial choices because at the end of the day, Springsteen is a terrific songwriter. I can't understand not finding anything worth listening to on his recent albums. There are gems sprinkled throughout every Springsteen album, and everyone has their favorites. Even a "leftovers" album like "High Hopes" has some great tracks - I think "Frankie Fell in Love" sounds like an instant classic, and "The Wall" is very moving.

In fact, speaking of "leftovers", my two favorite Springsteen albums might actually be Darkness and The Promise.
