I'm finally going through some of the promo LPs I've received the past few years as I start to organize things. At one point I got a bunch of records from an Italian company called "Akarma." One of the albums is by a group called "Stack" and an LP called Above All. I did a web search on the group, and it sounds as if it had the goods to become big, but ended up signed to Mike Curb's Sidewalk Records and got screwed when their album got no distribution, and they couldn't get out of their contract. It appears as if the original edition of this LP from the 1960s is a major, major collector's item, thus it has seen some dubious "reissues" over the years. But this one has every indication of being legit, as there's a credit given to "Clark Faville for the megarare and immaculate master tapes of STACK album." Two things piqued my interest: The writing credit on "Hot Days," the fourth song on Side 2, is "Steven Hoffman." And the credits say SPECIAL THANKS TO: Steve Hoffman for finding "Stack" -- Is this you, Steve? If so, did you have anything more to do with this than the song and "rediscovering" the album? And does this belong in the discography?
