oh no, crap. I listened to him on Marc Maron's podcast, very funny and great JFK stories. I was shouting his lines from Aliens at work all week.

"Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen!"

"Yeah man, but it's a dry heat!"

"Right, right. Somebody said "alien" she thought they said "illegal alien" and signed up!"

"How do I get out of this chicken**** outfit?"

"Hey, maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events, but we just got our asses kicked, pal!"

"We're on an express elevator to hell, going down!"

This sucks. Fun actor and consistently fun to watch on screen. R.I.P.

Wow that's sad, he was always fun to watch. First time I ever saw him was in Terminator.

I was listening to that episode just over a week ago. Was really impressed how enthusiastic he was. He couldn't wait to tell stories about "Weird Science!" Also appreciated his thoughts on the role he played on "Big Love" and how much he enjoyed directing. Too bad he won't get the chance to do another.

What was the health ailment that required surgery?

Always enjoyed seeing him in a movie...
even in "2 Guns" and "Twister", he was a presence!

And, yes.... with respect, his classic line, "Game over, man!"

In high school, we loved him as Chet, the obnoxious older brother in "Weird Science" - very quotable.

    "The boozehounds returns!"
"How 'bout a nice greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray?"
"You two donkey-dicks couldn't get laid in a morgue."
"That's not a joke, that's a severe behavioral disorder. I mean, the next thing you know, you'll be wearing a bra on your head!"
"Do you think they're having a good time being catatonic in a closet?"
    "You're stewed, buttwad!"

    RIP Chet

He doesn't have a huge part in it, but he's brilliant in a film called "The Last Supper".

'Game over man' is without doubt my most quoted film line. Always liked him. He had some demons I think which held him back somewhat.

    RIP Mr Paxton!

That's awful. Just saw him on a a late night show in the last two weeks and he certainly didn't seem to be unhealthy in any way. I wonder what the surgery was for. I guess this probably prematurely ends the new series he was on "Training Day", which I wasn't watching, but that's too bad for the others involved in the show.

Lotta memorable parts for Bill. His whiny space-marine in Aliens, for sure. I think my favorite show/movie he ever did was Big Love, though.

    And this memorable scene:

Two great films where Mr. Paxton brought it:
Near Dark (1987) - Family of vampires travel around (Texas?) in a van. Transcended the genre.
One False Move (1992) - With Billy Bob Thornton (who co-wrote) it's a thriller/noir that got raves when it came out. Very dark, but riveting.
    RIP sir.

Just heard him on WTF, watched Aliens a couple of weeks ago. He seemed like a really fantastic person. What a shame.

Very sad news. An underrated actor, for sure.

    Rest in peace, Mr. Paxton.

  24. Apollo 13 - I think it's one of the greatest movies ever. Bill Paxton played astronaut Fred Haise. That's my memory of Bill Paxton. Star Voyager.
