Superman, who can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bare hands, and who, disguised as Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper, fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice and the American way.

Anybody know who the guy is that says that at the start of each show?

    Bill Kennedy.
IMDB is your friend. He is the second person listed, after George Reeves, the star of the show.
"...And who, disguised as Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper, fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice and the American way!" Remember that familiar voice on TV's Adventures of Superman (1952)? That belonged to Bill Kennedy.

Yep, Willard Bill Kennedy, according to Gary Grossman in his wonderful book, "Superman, Serial to Cereal" (1976).

Was it just the last year or 2 that was in color?

1954 - 1957 episodes were filmed in color. There were 26 episodes in the first two seasons. During the color seasons, there were only 13 episodes each.

I watched Bill Kennedy most of my life. He was the biggest movie host in Detroit/Windsor. I knew he had been a B player in Hollywood but the only thing I knew for sure he did was Cisco Kid. I never knew he was the Superman announcer.
