The million dollar question. I'll still be glad to have this one regardless of the answer

Will Steve be the mastering engineer?

Wow, AF is getting into the Sony back catalogue--lots of great stuff there, just waiting for 24k treatment...

Would love to hear this if Steve does the mastering.

It's pretty well known that the masters of the original stereo mix are shot. That's why the album was remixed for the "remaster". My money is for the mono mix. Hopefully this will lead to AF doing the mono mix of Bookends. :)

This and Judas Priest Hell Bent For Leather are the first Sony titles licensed by Audio Fidelity. Here's hoping that many more Sony titles are forthcoming.

I'm glad they're doing this album and I hope Steve will remaster it.

If this will be the "infamous" MONO mix, then we should all stand up and applaud sir Marshall and company.

As far as STEREO goes, I'm truly satisfied with Vic Anesini's remastering.

It is good, though I have not yet compared it to my Japanese 32DP or 25DP discs. It's been awhile since I listened to them, but I liked them as well.

  14. That would be great.

When this one is released, it's coming home with me. Nice licensing score so Steve and Marshall will have another superb disc.

That cover mock-up shows the "360 Stereo" logo, FWIW.

I'd love to hear a Steve-mastered mono mix, but either way I'm sure it'll sound golden.

Me too. Unless we get the mono mix, I'm gonna take a pass on this one.

That was over 10 years ago since when the stereo mix has been found. It was used for the recent Sundazed reissue. As for the mono this is more than likely still missing or U/S.

I was wondering about that since I have the Sundazed reissue and don't recall ever reading that it was a remix. Other than noisy vinyl, it's a tremendous sounding record.

  21. How about a nice small box set of the mono S&G albums!!!

  22. I'm not!

Don't know if this will be better, but it won't be any great feat to best the remaster's artificial sound.

Both mono and stereo would make this the 1 to have, but would that mean having to license it twice? Which means it's a pipe dream.

Was this album recorded using tube equipment? If so maybe this new AF can be mastered the same way, like some of the AP Creedence discs were?

    That's a remix.
