Well... I don't know if I'd say she changed to a grown mother in the span of one album, but she did seem to be progressing even by 1998 with that second album (which I think is very good and very under-rated).

1998?. Don't you mean her fourth album? :)

Ha! Well okay yes, technically it's her fourth album but she doesn't really want you to remember that. :)

I went and saw her on the tour for her second album, she had a killer band(Gary Novak on drums, Derrin Johnson on keyboards) and it was as heavy a concert as I've ever seen, very enjoyable. Also, her live voice was very impressive, very strong with a minimal amount of "yodeling". A great show, one of my favorite concerts, and I am definitely an instrumental fusion enthusiast. I like her first two albums, but don't think I would rebuy either.

Yes, I guess to be fair, she did go through that AFKAA "Artiste Formerly Know as Alanis" thing around that time. ;)

JLP and Supposed are both excellent. Too bad they are pretty much dismissed these days. She has a great sense of humor apparently - one of the funniest music videos ever:

Yes! I remember laughing out loud when I first saw that!

Here's her modern rendition of Too Hot (see above).

The Robin Sparkles comparison to Alanis pre-post pop was pretty brilliant (with Gibson and Tiffany mixed in.

  14. The video mix (an entirely different performance, actually) of You Oughta Know would be nice. Blows the album version away.

It's a different take? Geez, I don't think I ever picked up on that! I'll have to do an A/B comparison between the album version and the video version.

The Jimmy The Saint mix is at the end of my JLP album before Your House. It isn't on yours? It's on ITunes as well.

I like the album. One of the last ones I bought on cassette. Good times.

OH! That mix! Yes, it's on mine. :) Man, I'm having a huge brain-fart today.

  19. Are you sure that's the same mix?

Give up that hope. She hates them and likely always will.
