It's...something. LOL! They were forced to record it by management. They had a semi-hit with "Earth Angel" - a one-off thing from the "Karate Kid" soundtrack and their clueless managers thought a whole album of the stuff was a good idea. It...wasn't. It's a slightly updated doo-wop album that they absolutely should not have been making. It does demonstrate that Ralph really had a voice. The best thing it did was free them from Jump & Shoot Productions so they could sign directly with MCA and make their best album, "Heartbreak". This album almost feels like sabotage. Never has a group made such a terrible album and then followed it with such a great one as New Edition.

It's really good! "Two Occasions" and "Shoot 'em Up Movies" are worth the price of admission alone.

There was some good stuff later but the older stuff ("Send for Me" et al) is better for me too. This album is no embarrassment though.

Maybe he doesn't like The Velvet Underground?

The thing to remember about his album cover website is that it is geared to more or less R&B music, primarily from the 80s, the time I assume he grew up. While Ed likes some rock, he has said that he's generally not a big fan of it. He's a professional singer, so he is drawn toward music that feature fine singers

I dunno. Ed may very well like The Velvet Underground, but you can find their covers everywhere else on the internet. Ed's place, while he no doubt has some big-time covers, aims to feature long lost or forgotten covers, which is great for people like me who also collect late 70s/80s R&B and jazz. The short of it is that Ed does what he likes.

If you want quality Velvet Underground covers, try album art exchange, or fanart.tv.

Splendid job! It's nice to finally get a cover that was taken from the actual LP and not the CD. I just don't like the sticker.

I don't care for them. That's the thing about music: everyone has their individual likes and dislikes. Not everyone likes rock music.

    Tom Wilson would disagree.

What does Tom Wilson have to do with it? Not everyone likes Bob Dylan, either.

Nailed it! Rock covers are well-represented elsewhere. I'm adding things that aren't nearly as easily found (for the most part). R&B, Jazz, and some other stuff too - just what I own.

I've kept it because it's unique. They didn't all come with the hype sticker. This one is stuck to the album jacket itself so it'd be hard to remove.

You're right about the "search bar". I'll get that fixed. Thanks for the heads up! :)

Nice work! Funny how A&M was inconsistent with their labels in the early 80s. They never even used the red and black label for albums (that I know of). Then they suddenly streamlined the black label in 1986, the one I never liked.

Thanks! Agreed totally about the record labels. They bounced between the black and red and, apparently, this one. I didn't expect to see it when I took the record out for the first time years ago. I'm no fan of the black A&M label either. I've always liked the black/red variant and, of course, the ochre. I really like this one too.
