The album may not have officially been called "33 1/3" but there it was on the front cover.

Not sure if early versions of the compact disc read "CD."

Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady (I know, does not specifically mention the album format, but still clever)

...which was directed by one Alex Cox, who also happened to be working on an upcoming film called Sid & Nancy that John Lydon was not at all in support of...

    Here's a word play title:

    "Spiral Scratch"

The debut record by The Buzzcocks, this EP was released on January 27, 1977. It was the first punk record to be self-released (not issued by a major label).
Spiral Scratch is the only Buzzcocks record featuring Howard Devoto's lead vocals, before he left the band to lead his own post-punk group, Magazine.

Looks like some did and some didn't.

But the Japan early pressing lacked "CD":

"Spin The Black Circle" by Pearl Jam is about the band's love of playing vinyl records.
(Although it's a single, I thought it unique and fit this thread's main subject.)

A better example of theirs would be their 1982 album Vinyl confessions. It wasn't for nothing that it made its CD debut only circa 1999 IIRC.

Also, Ron Wood's 1974 solo album comes to mind: I've got my own album to do.
